Well, I have now hit level 30, guess I really shouldn't call myself
noob anymore. I spent most of my 20-30 range leveling in Redridge and
Darkshire areas, but these are getting way to easy, and there are less
and less mob's yeilding much XP. The past few days I have spent in
Thousand Needles. The mobs are more interesting, probably since I
haven't been looking at them for 30 levels, they are yeilding about the
same XP as a level 30 mob near Darkshire, but at least it is something
new to look at, also some of them are stacked nice where you can
pull/kill in rapid succession, without getting ganged up on.
Interesting thing, in the last two days, I have not been attacked by a
Horde once, I have seen plenty, but I usually wave, and go about with
my grinding, and they just walk on by. Sometimes if they look like they
are in over their head, I will help them finish off a tough mob.
But what I was wondering was where are the best areas to stack up XP
for a LVL30 rogue who is fairly well equipted.

As another poster suggested, Arathi is a great place for 30-35, after
which time you should head to STV. There are enough quests & mobs in
STV to take you from 35 all the way to your high 40's if you're not
sick of it by then (I was - I now officially HATE STV after going from
36 to 44 almost exclusively in STV).
Also, take the "Green Hills of Strangelthorn" quest when you get there
and buy the pages you need from the AH. Instant XP (almost 10000
IIRC), and when you actually find the pages yourself you can put them
back on AH to recoupe what you paid to start with.

I have done no quest in the Thousand Needles area, the Shimmering Flats
seemed to be a touch high for me, but not un-doable. I will look that
quest up and see where it starts. It is a hard one to do?
I think I may have a look around stranglethorn Vale, and Arathi
Highlands, both placed I accidentally ventured into while in my
mid-20's and quickly got in over my head, might be time for a re-visit.
Plus I have managed to get my hands on around 600 Gold thus far,
trading my old Diablo gear off with friends from there. So my character
is somewhat twinked, The only limit to the quality of my gear thus far
has been whatever I have been able to find at the AH, which usually
isn't much. I am using a blackvenom blade in the main hand, would like
to find a better one and move this to the off hand. But even with lots
of gold, I guess these things take time.

I am really trying to make a push to 40 to ride the pony, I have a
pinto in the bank, been sitting collecting dust for awhile. I am sure
once I hit 40 and ride the mount, there will be some other sort of push
I need to do... >> Stay informed about: Leveling for a 30 Rogue |

That does look nice, I have been using the Tunic of Westfall, which is
92 armor and +11 agility, this looks like a logical step up, I would
also like to find some triprunner dungarees, I think these are Bop, and
probably a little high for me to make runs for though. >> Stay informed about: Leveling for a 30 Rogue |

I see you've been in Thousand Needles - have you done the quests from the
racetrack on Shimmering Flats? That's a level's worth of exp easily; I love
those quests Beyond that, Southshore has a few decent quests for your
level, but it's a very contested zone, so beware of ending up doing more
PVP than levelling. Likewise with Stranglethorn Vale - it's my favourite
zone and I love spending my 30s there but on a PVP server it's harsh; the
ganking there was what eventually led me to reroll on PVE and I couldn't
see it getting better. But then I was never a PVPer anyway and you sound
like you quite enjoy it, so it may well be more fun for you than it was for
me

sounds familiar, i went duskwood to 30, then arathi seemed good, from arathi
i went STV as well, till 40 ish.
At 40, hinterlands are cool imho. Repeatable quest as well which helps a
bit. >> Stay informed about: Leveling for a 30 Rogue |

Not too hard; there's basically five or six quests there, which all want
drops from various animals in the area. They're all between lvl 30 and 35,
mostly 30-32 if you stick to the northwest, and at lvl 30 you should be
able to do all but the basilisk quest without a problem (the basilisk one
wants some lvl 34-35s killed; I finished that one at 32 carefully going for
the lvl 34 ones) I did most of them at lvl 31 and it was very fun - you
have to watch out for adds, especially the buzzards and the odd annoying
air elemental wandering around, but if all goes wrong you can still vanish,
and in general it's not too hard for a lvl 30-31.

They should be ok - Arathi might be easier at first, as STV has a large
number of wild animals; unless you deliberately pull everything in sight
you'll get jumped on as you run past things at first. I normally leave it
until I'm 33-34, but it is doable at 30, just a bit challenging

Hehe, you're lucky to have that much money - my main only has 500g
currently, and he's lvl 60! It's always handy to have some nice blues while
levelling; with my main I had some and it helped a lot - it wasn't cheap
but turned out to be worth it in the end, just for the extra edge it gave
me. I never had blue weapons as they were always beyond my budget (as I
only had what money I could earn myself), but some blue bits of armour
heavy on agility were very handy.
Look out for a Wolffear Harness on the AH (lvl 31 blue chest, tons of agi)
- I was very lucky in that one dropped for a friend right when I was lvl 31
and he gave it to me; would've been for free but I insisted on paying 5g
for it, and it was the best 5g I ever spent - I was still using it 20
levels later as there simply are no comparable items for a long time
afterwards. They're usually pretty expensive on my server (I'm watching for
one for my hunter currently), but if you've got lots of gold it's worth a
look.

I can do better than that; Stranglethorn Vale (plus about ten
Monastery runs and a Zul'Farrak run or two) got me all the way from 31
to 45. I didn't get sick of it, but nevertheless I do plan on running
my other characters through other contemporaneous areas, such as
Desolace and Feralas, before trying STV again.

Yep, they're a quest reward for killing the final boss in Gnomeregan -
unless you can get a lvl 60 to run you through, you're probably best witing
a couple of lvls before trying it, but early 30s is about the right level
for it. They're also very nice; I replaced them with Basilisk Hide Pants in
my early 40s, but those are the only legs which beat Triprunner for quite
some time.
