Try Loch Modan. The monster and quest levels are on a par with Westfall and
a number of mountains and caves give good mining opportunities. To get
there, from Ironforge exit and at the bottom of the road turn left (south).
Cross the bridge and turn left again. Continue east past Steelgrill's Depot.
Take the southern outpost gate. There will be some quests at the southern
guard tower. You might want to pick them up before you travel north along
the road to Thelsamar. Get the fp there. There is an inn where you can rest,
and vendors where you can purchase ammo and other supplies. Also in Loch
Modan you can find the black bear patriarch. Tame one in order to obtain the
pet ability claw, if you do not yet have it, and it would be useful for your
pet.
