Episode Review

Fairies In the Spring

Sunday, June 11, 2006, 5:00 PM - 5:54 PM

Misc. Tidbits (5:00 PM)

The episode was written by Bob Forward and Marsha Forward.

This episode originally aired on Friday, November 17, 1989.

Interesting Notes (5:10 PM - 5:48 PM)

Link waxes his sword.

The Fairie King, Spryte's father, is named Operan.

Spryte has a sister.

Hyrule has a royal water park.

Gannon isn't in this episode.

Great Lines (5:04 PM - 5:39 PM)

Foreman: "As you can see, I'm all wet."
Zelda: "Speaking of all wet, where's our local hero?"

Link: "Ta-da! You called for a hero, Princess?"
Zelda: "Yes, but I guess you'll have to do."

Triforce of Wisdom: "To find your father, royal daughter, you must
search beneath the water."

Link: "Saved ya again, Princess. Kiss me."
Zelda: "Sure. Picker up, hero."
Link: "Oh, boy! Oh, darn. I forgot about these helmets."
Zelda: "I didn't."

Link: "Kiss me, Princess."
Zelda: "Sure. Why not? I guess it won't spoil the day too much."

Dumb Lines (5:39 PM)

None.

Rant (5:09 PM - 5:54 PM)

I love how Zelda pats Link on the head and says "Good boy." =)

I also love how Zelda tosses Link away when he's standing on a flower.
=)

Zelda again expresses her dislike for Link's bad jokes - while making a
joke of her own. =)

Zelda's current excuse for not kissing Link: she hates wet kisses. =)

I love how Zelda teases Link with a kiss, knowing that it won't happen.
=)

Three opportunities for a kiss and three strikes out. Hehe.

This is the first episode of the series without Gannon, which is a nice
change.

Link exclaims "Excuuuse me, Princess!" and asks Zelda for a kiss. The
episode was cowritten by Bob Forward. It's no surprise that he got
primary writing credit.

Lesson: Waterslides are fun.

Despite Link's infamous line and demands for a kiss, "Fairies In the
Spring" is a good episode.

This is a fun episode. The fact that I found no bad lines should
indicate how good this episode is.

Zelda again demonstrates her capabilities as a fighter and as a
magician.

Overall, "Fairies In the Spring" is a good episode. I look forward to
reviewing the next one.

Usefulness ratings:

Link: 7 (temporarily defeating the water monster, freeing Zelda from
the snake, defeating Zelda's monster, defeating the fish, temporarily
defeating 3 water monsters)
Zelda: 5 (defeating the snake, coming up with the idea to zap each
other's monsters, defeating Link's monster, slowing down the fish,
getting the fairies to stop attacking)
Spryte: 0 ()

I didn't count all of the water monsters that Link temporarily
defeated, only those that allowed Zelda to get to safety: the first one
and then three more.

Spryte was in this episode only for a short moment at the end, and she
doesn't get any points.

The running total usefulness ratings for the series so far are:

Link: 119 (11 episodes)
Zelda: 54 (11 episodes)
Spryte: 7 (7 episodes)

That's the end of my review of "Fairies In the Spring". I'll review
"The Missing Link" next. See you all in my next review!
