Post subject: The Lazy Glitch Explained (almost totally)
Archived from groups: alt>games>video>nintendo>animal-crossing (more info?)

Okay, I've been playing this weirdo game since it came out on release
date for GC, and I switched over to AC:WW on release date as well.
I've missed hardly a day with AC:WW. I've seen almost ever bit of
dialogue, but I still get surprises. I've always kept a journal about
the stranger elements of the game, but lately I've been intensively
trying to nail down the problems with Lazy dialogue.

This time, I got it. Behold, the (almost) total dialogue of the *true*
source of the Lazy glitch.

Hugh: Hey. Dr. S! You want to see something really neat?

A. [I didn't write this one down, oops] ----->B. Not really.

Hugh: Aww, come on...You know you want to see it!

A. Maybe a little. ---->B. No, not really.

Hugh: Aww, Dr. S! You gotta be joking! C'mon, just say you want to see
it!

A. OK already! -----> B. Leave me alone!

Hugh: How horrible! So, you're saying that you don't want to see it at
all?

A. Enough already! ----->B. Please go away!

Hugh: YOU ARE SO RUDE! You stomp on pigeon eggs, Dr. S! [Hugh is
crying.] You're such a jerk. [Hugh walks away with depression spirals]

The Explanation:

Note that there are are FOUR questions. Here's all I know about what
happens at each stage.

Question 1: The A--Yes--answer results in something like "Oh, forget
it..." and Lazy wanders away. At this point, YOU ARE GLITCHED. That
character will NEVER get a pic, but Lazy will always ask you what you
did with it. This is ANNOYING. DO NOT DO THIS. Answer B--No--, which
moves you to the next stage.

Question 2: I am uncertain what a Yes answer does here, but I'll be
trying it out as soon as possible. Based on what I've seen with other
Lazy dialogues (which I'll get to), I doubt a Yes here would be a good
idea. Answering No moves you to the next stage.

Question 3: I am almost completely positive that a Yes answer here
gets you Lazy's pic, free and clear. At least that's what is in my
notes. To be honest, I've only managed to achieve this once, and I was
fairly drunk at the time, so my notes were a bit spare. But that's
what my notes say. Answering No moves you to the last stage.

Question 4: I don't even remember seeing this part until last night. I
must have stumbled on it once before, because the "pigeon eggs" insult
was in my notes to investigate. I would *assume* a Yes answer here
would also get you Lazy's pic. Alternately, my notes about Question 3
were wrong, and *this* is the only spot were you can get the pic with
a Yes answer. Two things occur to me. One: this is hard to check out
because the event only happens once per Lazy per character, and it
takes some time to come out. Two, I should drink less. Good luck on
Two...

....Anyway, if you give a final No answer, you get the "pigeon egg"
rant, which is oddly satisfying if you hate Lazy as much as I do, and
you already have his pic from some other character who was nicer to
the fat little dolt. NOTE: It is unclear to me whether the rant causes
the Lazy glitch or not. I only first triggered this result less than a
month ago, and this is only the second time I've done it. I'm still
studying the two Lazys to see if they will give me a second chance
(like all villagers do if you're inventory is full when they want to
give you a pic) or if the full-blown glitch sets in. So far, I can't
verify either. Not for lack of trying, mind you.

I'll be posting some more info on Lazy behavior... but for now, to
conclude:

Obviously, I need to check out what happens at Yes answers for
Questions 2 and 4 some more, and little bit of verification could help
at Question 3, but I think I have pretty much nailed the nature of the
Lazy Glitch down completely. This is it. Period. Jeremiah glitched all
four characters on my first cart with this routine, which is how I
came to suspect the odd nature of Question One. Pure frustration led
me to get to Question Three before I got bored and said yes.
Drunkeness got me to to answer no at Question Four. Like I said, I'm
missing a couple parts, but I think I have the whole picture here.

Now, about the "false" glitch. Many FAQs report this dialogue is what
causes the glitch. No. It does not. This is the *easy* way the get a
Lazy pic. Probably 95% of people who have Lazy pic got it this way.
I've only recently put all the pieces together so I don't have word-
for-word record of this. But what happens is...

Lazy hails you, you go over to talk. Lazy asks if you've ever gotten a
picture from anyone before. You can answer Yes or No. I've *always*
answered Yes, and I've still *always* gotten a pic. Several of the
FAQs counsel to always answer No, and they report that you will always
get a pic. Six of one, half a dozen of the other if you ask me.

So, this *cannot* be the source of the glitch. Until I stumbled across
the true glitch last month, this was the ONLY way I could get Lazy
pics. It must be random which of the two dialogues you get. Jeremiah
glitched my North American cart four times, before he finally gave up
his pic in the above manner on my European cart.

My last section (for now) will give an example of a similar dialogue
where negative answers to Lazy will achieve a positive result.

Here's one of the DUMBEST snippets of dialogue from ACWW. Pretty much
all the Lazy speeches are stupid, but this is just moronic,
particularly considering that the answer patterns for a positive
outcome are set, and the whole thing makes no sense, except maybe, to
emphasize how amazingly obnoxious the Lazy personality is.

I have titled it: "Chillin' on the Lazy Couch"...Only the very first
sentence is not verbatim.

Biskit: [I have to paraphrase here--"I recently got this nice picture
of a couch from Chillin' magazine.] I haven't shown anyone yet, but I
could show it to you. Want to see it?

A. Oooh! Yeah! ----->B. No, thanks.

Biskit: You don't like couches? That's too bad...Aren't you even a
little into them?

A. Maybe a little ----->B. Enough already!

Biskit: What! Biscuit! [My character is got her nickname while playing
in French language mode. This is French for "Cookie".] Your honesty is
always brutal. It stings! But I appreciate it. Here, I'll give you my
sky wall...if you give chillin' a chance. To my friendship with
biscuit! Cheers! Dawg!

Only the double negative will give you a positive response. As I have
posted elsewhere, this is also seen in the "I love you, I love you
not" routine. I am trying to see what other negative responses achieve
positive results with the Lazys. Cube and Hugh are going to be
tortured and insulted for quite some time...

In the mean time, the only "chillin'" I would like any of the Lazys to
do would be in a meat locker. That means you, Benedict, Jeremiah, and
all you other losers...

Cool, and good to know. So there is a way to get the damned things to
give up their pics. I guess I am just too nice to them. You know,
they just might be masochistic besides lazy.
