Where is the best place to place landmarks? Do they actually do anything,
like increase population or mayor rating? Also what will benefit from
landmarks? Such as com, res and industrial which one should be placed near
the landmark? On the back of the SC4 box there is a picture of a landmark
city with some res and com, does this mean anything?
thanks

Already asked and answered. Rather than type my response one more time,
here's a pointer to the Google archive of it:

That gives the answer in general principle, but is there a list
anywhere online of the individual effects of all the landmarks and
rewards? Something in tabular form, like this:
Com Res
Convention Center (100,32) ( -50,22)
Toxic Waste Dump (-60,24) (-100,4
etc...
where the first figure is the effect (positive or negative) and the
second is the radius over which it extends.
If not, maybe we could compile one in the newsgroup based on what
various people know about the effects of the buildings. Given that
it's one of the most FA of the FAQs, something like that would be
really useful.

Not that I've seen cited in this group or come across hitting the
various Simcuty 4 websites. That's why I cited the Prima Strategy Guide
instead.
Sure, you'll have to pay for it but you get a *lot* more than just a
couple of tables...

Actually, a quick Google did find me this:
http://members.brabant.chello.nl/~h.vangompel/s/simcity_4_a.txt
which goes part of the way towards giving the information - it doesn't
give the full effect and coverage for each building, but it does show
whether there is a positive or negative effect and gives an idea of
how strong it it.

" part of the way"...
Just bite the bullet and get the guide. Your eyes will thank you for sparing
them the eyestrain...
