Playstation2 from Japan to India?

(This might look like X-posting though but I mistakenly posted to
uk.games.video.playstation where as I intended to target a wider
audience at this group)

hi there guys!
I am in japan rite now, and might be going out to buy some electronics
soon the one I am most eagerly looking for is PS2 I just wanted to jave
some suggestions before I get one, I am from India and planning to take
PS2 with me to india.

will PS2 from japan will work in India and can I play all other games
from different distributors worldwide in India?

We have Electricity 233V @50Hz with PAL TV System (My TV Supports
NTSC/PAL)

I have also heard about MOD's that after having the MOD chips fitted on
your PS2 you can play any PS2-games is it so? if i have this MOD chip
applied then what will happen to the International guarantee that we
get with the product???

Also maybe you can suggest some good games with english title

BTW I am planning to get Half Life 2 for PS2 (elglish title) any idea
on how much will it cost? and does it require any addtional
acessories/stuff with it to work properly??

Also what all acessories do you get with PS2 Box?

It may well be just academic. So far, there's been very little
indication that Half-life 2 will come out for the PS2.

Having played Half-life 2 on the PC and the xbox, though, I can concur
that the PC version exceeds the console version in most every way.
