Post subject: Jade Dragon - Andy Phillips returns with a novel
Archived from groups: rec>games>int-fiction, others (more info?)

Dear all,

>From Andy Phillips, author of a notoriously difficult series of IF
games back in the last century (Heroine's Mantle, Enemies etc.), comes
a new (potentially exciting) venture.

If anyone's wondering what a story of mine is like without the
mind-numbingly difficult puzzles, it may be of interest. It's a psycho
crime thriller set in San Francisco - kinda think 'Enemies' with a much
more developed plotline and no Mensa style brain teasers in sight. But
a similar style of writing, so those who enjoy sleeping at night should
beware.

The title of the book is 'Jade Dragon' (not to be confused with other
similarly named titles).

Published by Utopia City Books, a small, recently founded UK-based
press. ISBN 0955315204 (10 digit), 9780955315206 (13 digit).

Available now from most online shops in the US and UK. Details/press
release to follow after the e-mail.

Andy P.

PS. Don't know when I'll have time to work on a new game. At present
I've got to write more books for the series (part of a planned
trilogy).

-----------------------------

Synopsis

She hunts her enemies one by one. Looks into their eyes. Shows them her
face...
....to let them know they've been beaten by an eighteen year old girl.

A new breed of psychopath terrorises San Francisco: a woman who is
seductive, manipulative, and lethally proficient in martial arts. First
to die is Toshigi Tasoto - a prominent videogame developer whose
company created Jade Dragon, the female ninja character imitated by the
real life murderess.

Investigations lead to Tasoto's daughter Nicole, a games designer as
brilliant as she is beautiful. Her past is the key to the mystery. But
is she a potential victim, or a killer playing a murderous game?
