So I recently started a new JOL game, and for reasons I don't
understand, it only works with the Beta site, where all the rest of my
JOL games work on the older version.
Not that the Beta version is horrible, but it seems a lot klunkier (it
regularly does stuff like stop typing in the middle of scentences,
jump ahead on the screen for reasons I don't comprehend, and not
respond to commands I give it periodically--this on both a Win and Mac
machines, and the Win machine actually works less well than the Mac)
and I like the older version of the interface better.
Why would the new game only work on the Beta version?
Thanks,
-Peter >> Stay informed about: JOL Beta? |

Never played lackey, but don't like the name. But besides that, don't
really want to load the software.
Someday I will give it a chance.

As adam said, it works much better on FF than IE

Might be a relatively new thing, but games started in Beta seem only to
be able to be seen on Beta, and game started in old version seem only to
be seen in old version.
That said, old JOL drives me nuts. But I never used anything but the
Beta (on Firefox), and I have not experienced the issues you cite.

That makes sense. I'm using Safari on my Mac, but IE on my work
computer. And my work computer finds the beta interface to be really
difficult.

That would explain that.

I'm wondering if even this issue might be browser related, that is,
depending on what browser the admin was using when creating the game.
All games I've created show in both original and beta flavors of JOL,
or they do for me at least. But I'm consistently using Netscape at
work and Firefox from home, both of which have proven substantially
less problematic than IE.

Yeah, I run FF and the Beta is fine. None of that stupid jumping and
command interrupting I got on the older version, It seems crowded and
a bit confusing at times, but overall I like beta better.
Cheers,
John
