Second time so far I have created an invention that I thought I could
use, only to be wrong. The last was "Unspeakable Terror: accuracy/
recharge"
I think. It says +acc, +rechg. I have a few powers that take both
an
accuracy boost and a recharge reduction, but they don't take this
enhancement. What am I missing here? Is there an easy way to tell
which enhancements will work?
Also, I got a costume piece in a contest (two contests entered,
different characters, got a prize both times . Since it doesn't
really match my character concept, is it possible to use it on
a character on a different server or faction? Or is it usable only
by the character that makes it?
(I've been purposely killing my character between each mission
ever since I out levelled several contacts in Port Oakes. This
paid off since I'm finding more interesting mission arcs this way
in Cap au Diable that I would have missed. Now if only the
hero missions got interesting...)

Debt badges? Yet another goal for me!
My highest character is a mastermind. I have to really
screw things up to get killed accidentally.
Which brings up another question. If I pop a
accuracy, damage, or defense inspiration, do
any of them affect my minions?

What does doing the newspaper missions and heists multiple
times do for you? Wouldn't you get even more XP that way,
or does this mean you can then be introduced to more than
one contact up front?
> I hate debt so I've never gone that route, but instead have just chosen

Yeah, I have 4 characters. In WoW I did things the way
you did; there were multiple zones appropriate to a level
at a time, and I would mostly just stick to one zone with
a character until I finished all the quests then moved
on. Ie, dwarf guy stuck to dwarf themed areas, etc.
This way I wouldn't get a lot of overlap when I started
a new character and get bored doing the same old quests.
So my mental process was always "do all the quests
you're given if they're from your main areas or race."
That didn't really translate to the City of Heroes
part of the game very well but it did seem to fit
into City of Villains easily, especially when the
missions stopped feeling like they were randomly
generated.

No, but you can drop them on a minion to give the buff to him instead.

I don't know that I'd recommend any of them since they all get very
grindy in short order.
This is the list that I chose from:
http://www.freemmorpglist.com/games_rpg_mmorpg.html
The ones I played and had some fun with before it got too grindy, were
Last Chaos, Rappelz and Martial Heroes.
A quick scan of that list shows there are some new ones that weren't on
the list when I last went looking.

EVE is the only space based one I know of.

Actually, their website had gone so long without an update I began to
suspect the game was vaporware, due to be released some time between
Duke Nukem Forever and Starcraft: Ghost. But it looks like they've
actually started posting some info on the site.
I just hope it's carebear-friendly. EVE is a fantastic game, but it's
not for people who don't enjoy PVP. Or for people who don't enjoy
playing a game where the devs have their clear favorites among the
player base.[1]

Didn't know about it. Don't laugh, but I was setting up Space Trader
on a refurbished PDA for my son, and it got me wondering what games
were out there. After loading and deleting some laughable
trialcrapware called Jack of All Trades, I thought about Eve and
others. I'm not much into PvP since my rules of online gaming re: PVP
are:
1. You are old and slow, and your computer is 4 years old. Having
cable will not help.
2. Most of the PvP'ers out there are better than you.
3. If you think you can beat that other guy in the dinkyship with
your uberdestroyer see rules 1 & 2.
4. If you can play as an engineer in TF at least you have that emp
you were holding when you died, so the killratio will be almost even.

Carebear-friendly?!?
WTH does that mean? LOL.
Maybe I just need to buy a good solo Space Adventure game. (Now I have
to go dig thru the net for the names...)

okay wiki is my friend...
Care bear[1]
noun Refers to players who will not engage in player vs player
combat if there is any chance of loss involved (gear, vitae, RP loss,
etc.) World of Warcraft would be example of carebear game.
noun Refers to a higher level player who follows another around
healing them, and clearing away monsters who are too powerful for the
lower level player, as opposed to joining the group and mentoring (if
the game allows for this).
noun Also could be reference to a healing character i.e.
priest, monk, paladin.
Ye gods... I'm a friggen care bear, gonna have to pay $9.99 for the
rename. >> Stay informed about: Invention questions |

Got a few suggestions for ya.
I had alot of fun with Freelancer and have just started messing around with
X3 (both of which you can find dirt cheap now). Freelancer has the added
bonus of allowing some limited multiplayer stuff, never really messed with
it too much but it's there.
Oh, and if you are a Babylon 5 fan, there's a free sim/game out there called
"I've found her" that puts you in the cockpit of a Starfury (love the actual
Newtonian physics). There's even a new expansion that I grabbed but haven't
messed with yet.

Really! Is that still around? I DLed it long ago and had it installed on my
old workstation, but I only played it for about an hour - found it
difficult to get oriented within.
Actually, I thought JMS etc. had stomped it.
I might go find it on my archive hard drives and look again.

Hopefully Jumpgate will have a better time of it than Auto Assault did (same
developer). I'm just praying that whoever ends up publishing Jumpgate
actually lets them FINISH the game before impatiently pushing it out into
service... That was a big nail in the coffin of AA right from the start,
and NCsoft was swingin the hammer - nothing turns off players (and
reviewers) to a new MMO more than a horribly buggy and severely imbalanced
debut. Only the die-hards stayed, and that wasn't enough to keep AA alive,
even after most of the balance issues were fixed.

Apparently it wasn't squashed... They still have a working website and
fairly new forums, so I guess it's being allowed to continue. Last I heard,
any development of a B5 game (rumored to be an MMO) was dropped, so I guess
they decided it was no biggie to have this running around the net. And
there have been alot of enhancements and improvements to the program in the
recent past, so it might be worth re-downloading or updating.

I don't find this a particular accurate definition. A person who PvPs
in WoW is not a carebear by the conventional definition, even though
there's very little at risk if you're defeated.
Some people have little or no interest in PvP even if there ISN'T
anything at stake, such as in City of Heroes. The term is still applied
to them as well.
