Firstly, I would like to say Hi to Tancred
Good to see you back.
Iakovos, if you are looking to invest in a new PC, it highly depends
on your budget. But just as an off the cuff suggestion, this is what I
recommend you get (at least):
Intel P4 2.4 Ghz with HT (You can keep on going higher till P4 3.4
Ghz, depending on your budget)
OR
AMD Athlon 64FX (you can even look at the lower speed 64bit
processors. But if you are going for AMD, their 64bit processors are
the best. Don't get a 32bit AMD, specially now)
512MB PC 3200 DDR Ram (This ram is rated at 400mhz, it is very good.
You can also optionally get the 333mhz one - pc 2700 or the new 533mhz
one, depending on your budget)
I would suggest an ideal of 1GB, but 512 is enough for most tasks.
An ATI Radeon 9800 Pro/
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
(You can even look at the X800 if you have the money, X600...IMO, not
worth it).
Optionally, if you like nVidia, go with
Geforce FX 5950/
Or maybe a Geforce 6600 (new price conscious card, is good for normal
gaming and stuff). If you have the money, 6800 GT
a SATA based Hard drive. IDE is dead.
This can be configured in an optional RAID config with another drive.
Get at least 3 times the amount you think you'll need.
I have 2 disks (about 200GB) and I am running out of space (don't have
more than 1.5 GB free on any partition).
A good cabinet, make sure you get a big one. Also, get an ATX size
motherboard, not a mini ATX.
Motherboard should have at least 5 PCI slots (if you aren't going for
PCI Express yet).
Get a good name motherboard, from Intel or ASUS. I would avoid the
rest, I've had/seen bad experiences with most of the rest.
Make sure you have a decent Power Supply Unit (PSU). Very important.
Should have a rating of at least 400W.
A sound card, well it depends on how important sound is to you. You
can get anything from a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 to just a Live! Value
card. Or just forget about one if you don't really need one and your
motherboard has onboard sound.
Other stuff are mostly peripherals. Buy what you need.
Get a good monitor. This is very important. You're basically going to
be spending all your time on the computer with your monitor. Make sure
you get a flat tube and at least 17inch. An LCD is nice but not really
required, I would instead go for a bigger CRT which has a flat tube
(19 or 21inches).
Personally, I was tempted to upgrade my 17inch flat Samsung monitor to
a 21inch one, but I just bought another 17inch and I am very happy. I
have double the screen space, and can multi task very well on 2
monitors.

Good questions. I would have liked to ask them myself
Though knowing Pyro, I think the first question's answer is that they
developed the game engine in house
