ok little help would be much appreciated...

I dug out my system shock 2 cd and decided to install it,

i run the setup.exe and it gets as far as "setup is preparing the
installshield..." goes to 99% and then closes and installs nothing,

i've tried the command line fix of setup -lgntforfce and it does exactly
the same thing

I'm running windows XP pro but its still meant to work installing then i
can use the xp fix

its got me perplexed so if anyone can offer any advise then i would really
appreciate it

Cheers

My guess is the problem is XP. I actually keep a couple of older
systems, one 800Mhz and one 200Mhz with win 98 on them just to play some
of the older games every now and then. Always works.

Works okay under XP Pro for me (except for repeatedly giving me the
Keystone Kop effect); it has been a while, but I do believe I had to
install using command line and the -lgntforce option. Might want to try
the Looking Glass fan forums at www.ttlg.com for help.

What version of System Shock?

I have the EA classics reissue and though it only mentions 95 and 98 it
installed without any problem at all.

I started by clicking on autoexec.exe rather than setup.exe - don't know
if that would make any real difference though.
