The site invite players to comment on the Race via the Newsgroup.
The Race is closer to be balanced with their latest changes (reduced
the power and removed some devices).
But one devices is still game braking the Phase Shields.
Phase Shields
If one switch is turned on (immune to either ORD or energy weapon) is
very powerful, and can mess up the enemy fleet easily, once the weapon
configuration is know, they just flip the correct switch and are
IMMUNE to those weapon + they reflect the damage on the ship firing.
This is way too strong already, and they have a device that can scan
enemy weapons...
(Loose the Reflect the damage on the enemy ships, and / or take 50%
more damage from the opposite if ORD is chosen take 150% damage from
energy)
Now this can even better for them, they can turn on both switch !
Now they are immune to both ORD and Energy weapon, and redirect them
to the enemy.
Now this ability has a little draw back (after the combat you need to
have a new shield in a outfit pod)
But most if not all their ship can carry 1 or more pod, so you have
ships immune to everything for the cost of a Fleece S30 shield a
mighty 1$ per ship per turn !
Now to balance this the Phase Shields, should work only vs Large
weapon (there is nothing that say it is not working vs small weapon).
The ship should have a nasty feedback and get 150 % system damage and
50% hull damage.
Now we have a real draw back but you can still be immune and kill most
fleet at low cost.
+ The Phase shield block all enemy transfer 100% of the time, this is
also way to strong.
Ships immune to combat + boarding.
50% enemy boarding failure would already be very powerful.
When both Device are on immune to ORd and Energy, I would drop the
chance of blocking enemy transfer to 0%.
