Where do I go? Rogue is 38.5, 1 quest left in Desolace, a few in STV(
which is where I'm working on now) I know they kept trying to send me
to Arathi Highlands but I never bothered.

Little low for Tanaris. What about badlands? How does horde get there,
it looks like a really, really, long run. Hinterlands would be the
other option, I assume someone in Arathi would have told me to go
there?

I've got all I want from SM/RFD already (Rogues have really poor
itemisation in the lowbie instances btw)

Go to Gadgetzan and get Tanaris quests....they're fun and you get great
XP.

It's actually not that bad. I recently made the run from Arathi to the
Badlands twice, with a low 40's shaman and a high 30's hunter. My
highest Alliance character is a level 14 human, so I was a bit hampered
by not knowing the terrain. Going from Arathi over the bridge to the
Wetlands was completely safe. There is one neutral faction goblin
along the road in the Wetlands, who is your last chance to dump vendor
trash until you get to the Badlands. The tunnels from the Wetlands to
Loch Modan had a few dwarves, but all of them were about level 30. My
shaman just ran through using Ghost Wolf; I'm not sure I ever got hit.
The hunter kept up the speed aspect and used the pet for a speedbump
once or twice (pet counterattacks guards, I run like heck, whistle for
the pet when I run too far from the pet/fight). I'm guessing that the
OP's 38 rogue could probably make it through quite safely with a
combination of stealth and Sprint. I play on a PvE server, so I can't
guess how dangerous it would be otherwise.

Oh, and to address the original question, the Badlands is a great place
for a level 38 horde rogue. There is plenty there you can kill and a
handful of quests. There are plenty of mobs just below or just above
your level; if you only want to hunt mobs several levels below you, you
might be better off sticking to Arathi for a while. A big bonus is
that the flight point in Kargath is the essential link between the
northern part of the continent (Undercity, Tarren Mill, etc.) and the
south (Booty Bay, Grom'gol, etc.).

Badlands would be a good option. So is Swamp of Sorrows. Arathi will
have lots of quests at the Hammerfall town. Have you done the quests
at Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad Foothills?

In another level or two you can begin the quests in Hinterlands and
Feralas.

To get to Badlands, best way is probably to run south from Arathi, through
Wetlands and Loch Modan. You have to pass through some dwarf-guarded
tunnels, so you might die a few times.

He said he's too low for Tanaris and I'd agree - I loved the place but
there wasn't much I could do until 43-44 (it's just not possible to spin 2
quests out over 5 levels).

I'd say Badlands is the place to go - it's where I went as Alliance at much
the same level, and it filled the gap out nicely. And seeing as Horde have
a base there and we don't, there's probably an even better range of quests
for them - even doing old green quests is a good way to level up a bit.
Afraid I can't help with how to get there though... the only route I can
see is Arathi>Wetlands>Loch Modan>Badlands, but that's a little hazardous
given the Alliance guards in Loch Modan - maybe a Horde player knows a
better route Wink

Yes and many of them green quests chain into other higher level quests as
you go on.....

Thanks for all the responses guys. I'm gonna wrap up STV and should be
lvl 40 by then and head over to Badlands afterward. Thats gonna be an
ass of a run.

Really? I took one look at that place and went back to STV. Same with
The Badlands and Desolace.

I lived in STV for ages before going to Feras for a while. With brief
vists to Arathi highlands, The Hinterlands and the zone west of
Ashenvale. The later two are more 40-50 though. So, there's not much
you can feasible do in them. And in the Hinterlands the horde camp
right on the far side where all the 50+ elite mobs are. Bit of a dodgy
run.

The Badlands easy to get to on a PvE server. The drawf guards will be
all grey and the majority will ignore you because of it. Just don't
run through the allied town!

I ran that gauntlet at 38 and had no difficulty. I got chased by a
couple of dwarf guards but they gave up soon enough. Couldn't believe
how lucky the aliance are to have liferoot in the wetlands! We have to
go to Ashenvale for the stuff! That confirmed the game's inherent
anti-horde bias for me!

I've been bodding around southwestern SoS since 36, collecting Small
Flame Sacs and posting them to my mate who makes Dragonsbreath Chili
for me. Also decent cash, great herbs, and great XP!

I don't remember the level around there (somewhere between 35 - 45 ?),
but the Swamp of Sorrows is a great place; spent a lot of time there
with a friend who needed to catch up 4 or 5 levels whilst I was looking
for some gold for my mount (I was level 42 IIRC)

yeah: we called it the Money Swamp (spent time in a group of three
there; skinner, herborist, disenchanter)

Well, we ARE better than they are, so think of it as game balancing.

The guards are avoidable with a little work, or you could just die your way
past them.

There is also a direct path to the badlands in Searing Gorge, but it's a
little difficult to find, and Searing Gorge is not a happy place for low
40s. *
