Vista has more to do with the layoff than the 360. If you'd read the
article you'd know that the layoffs are targetted at other areas of
Microsoft - not the Xbox division.
Vista has been a big disappointment for Microsoft. Companies haven't
embraced it like they have XP or Win2k in the past. In fact, many vendors
still offer XP on their systems at extra cost - an extra cost many happily
pay to avoid being forced onto a new OS that offers nothing more than
software incompatibility problems, and poor performance.
