Hi, can anyone help me? I can't get Oblivion GOTY edition to run on my laptop. It stops responding at the last intro movie. If I disable the intro movies it then stops responding at the initial load screen.
Laptop specs: Lenovo 3000 N100, Windows XP SP3, T2300 processor @ 1.66Ghz, 2GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300, SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio.

I don't believe your processor is powerful enough and that your memory is
not sufficent. And your integrated audio chip could be a problem as well.
You might consider checking out Old-blivion:

http://www.oldblivion.com/

It's supposed to allow Oblivion to run on systems below the minimum
requirements.

Good luck.

I doubt that you have a general hardware problem: some time ago I made
some sort of "software torture test" successfully executing Oblivion on
a Pentium III running at 500MHz with 512MB of RAM, an old ISA-Soundcard
and a Geforce FX5700VE graphic card on Windows 2000 with SP4. Well, it
didn't "run" but it definitely loaded and started and I was able to
create a character and walk around. My guess is, that it might be a
problem with your SP3 - I haven't tried Oblivion on XPSP3-machines yet.

I've got an assassin up to 26th level - starting-out with SP 3 installed.
So the latest service pack for XP hasn't been an issue for me.

I can't speak for the other parts of their system, but the memory
should be enough for it to at least run, if not perform well. I had it
running on an XP machine with only 1Gb of RAM.

'run, but not perform well'... he did say it was loading.... does that
consitute 'running'?

<weak grin>

I looked at the back of my shivering Isles's box - it says 1 gig of RAM is
recommended. So it's probably not the ram.
