....well, this adventure strikes me as being rather monty haulish, as well
as not very difficult. I also have to wonder about the proofreading that
they did.

Black dragon has an AC of...2? The cleric wearing fullplate has an AC of 3?
Are we back to 1st and 2nd edition armor classes now?

Stirges with no blood drain?

Then there's the business with the pre-genned characters. Sorry, I don't
get these attributes and their modifiers at all.

At a cursory glance, it seems like a 5 is a -2 penalty, 6-8 gives you a -1
penalty, 9-12 has no mod, 13-15 is +1, 16-17 is +2, 18 is +3. Even if that
progression made any damned sense, there's all kinds of weird exceptions.
Sister Rebecca on page 24 has a 14 wisdom and constitution and no modifier
for either (but has +1 for her 13 strength), just as an example. There's a
bunch of characters like that. Is this just really bad editing that didn't
catch the mistakes?

You're having the funny, right? Dragonsfoot is old editions, all
those stats are for BDnD. Maybe. One of the editions before Mentzer's
BXCMI, at a guess.

Correct. The Haunted Keep
<http://www.dragonsfoot.org/php4/archive.php?sectioninit=CD&fileid=234&watchfile=0>
is an extension of the sample dungeon in the D&D Basic Rulebook (1981).

Aside: On Dragonsfoot, Mentzer's series is called "BECMI," while
Moldvay's/Cook's/Marsh's (previous) series is called "BX."

Seemed strange to express saving throws in terms of fortitude, reflex, and
will, for an old edition game.

Wait, 'Trimboli' as in the drug-lord of 1970's griffith?

What are you reading? That module doesn't have those.
