Agreed. However it was Diablo 1 which I originally played online.
My first online friends were made on that game and as such still
holds a special place in the withered little nuggett that is my heart.

Still, the amount off people I've come to know through Half-life is
quite large.
It's quite sad I've lost touch with some of them actually...

Yeah. There are 3 games groups I got to know a bunch of people from. Even
spent a good deal of time with a few in real life. a.g.tombraider,
a.g.quake[x], and here, a.g.h-l.
1996 doesn't seem that long ago to me. That was when I got started with the
online game experience (quake) and in the game ng's (tombraider). I was
really hesitant to de-lurk back then. Got a couple horror stories from the
old dialup BBS days. I'm glad I did though. As great as the games can be,
it's the people that keep us coming back to the ng's month after month, year
after year. Smile

Happy 10th HL!

BTW, haven't we been waiting 10 years for Duke Nukem Forever? If not, it
certainly seems that long Smile

Longer. It was apparently announced in April 1997. Whatever happens
now it is going to disappoint.

LOL, fine shooting mister.

Wow, is it 10 years already? Sure doesn't feel like I was 14 when I
opened up my shiny new Voodoo and started playing... (scary that, eh?)

There's one other game that *has* accomplished just that... Starcraft!
Released in 1998 as well, and it's still one of the larger online games
out there, probably more so than HL, although possibly not CS...
