Well, someone had to post it. Might as well be me.
And I know for some of you, it's long overdue, and for some of you,
you're probably drinking into oblivion right now. (The game or
otherwise.) And some of you, like me, aren't quite there yet.
But happy new year and all that jazz.

I actually went to bed at 9.00pm as I couldn't be less motivated to
celebrate. It didn't help that the weather in Melbourne is disgustingly hot
at the moment and makes me feel like a beached whale.
But yeah, happy new year!

It's hard to imagine New Year's in hot weather. One good reason never
to move down there -- after all these years I don't think I could
handle doing seasons backwards.
It's 1:15 and I'm still up. (As usual.) But didn't do anything. I
was going to go to my brother's but then started feeling sick. I have
no idea why. So I cancelled out. Nice way to start a new year.

Seasons? Bah! There are no seasons in my cave except Dark and Damp!

Better not be a premonition! By 3:00 a.m. I was barfing my guts out.
Which is rare for me. And I didn't even get the joy of drinking
first. And slept terrible. And have been tired all day and haven't
been able to eat much. Oddly, right now I want popcorn. What a weird
thing to want when I'm sick. I might try cereal. When I had strep,
the only thing I could eat was Honey Nut Cheerios.
You may as well send Dark and Damp over to keep me company. They'll
fit right in.

Hmmm. Barfing and strange cravings. Are you sure you're not pregnant?

When I was a bookstore manager, it was almost funny how I'd guess which
girls working at the store had gotten pregnant from those two symptoms
weeks before they themselves figured it out. Of course, I never just
blurted out the question in those cases.
No, none were mine.

I had to read that sentence like three times. It sounds like the
symptoms is what got them pregnant.
