Idea's for model - Hi all, I'm painting a Grail Knight and would like some input. First, I don't game and I'm not worried about the model looking uniform as if it were in a unit. Right now, I have the horse landing on it's front feet with the rear legs extended in hopes..

Magnetic paint um..[model] or [paint] - I picked up a can of Krylong magnetic paint, not actually magnetic, but is the kind of paint that pagnets can stick to. I'm thinking of sticking neodynium magnets on my bases, and spraying this stuff on movement trays. Also, I think it'd be good to use it

[model]Rare Earth Magnet - I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a good site for these and recommend a size to use on 28mm sized models. the 40K miniature range. Thanks in advance for any help.

[model] [paint] Hobby Progress? - July was another slow month. I spent a couple days my storage cases, so more minis cased and fewer loose. My main current project is to finish my Assault Marines. From a base of 15 built and painted, I've finished building 6,..

[Model] Favorite Metallic Paints? - So over the last year or so I've been gradually replacing my old paints with Vallejo paints, which I love, but I've been hanging onto and nursing along my old pots of GW metallic because I still like them. But I just can't stand the terrible GW paint.

I've been doing this for ages, and just realised how helpful it can
be.

Hell, I thought "blue tack" (poster putty) was the blue part of green
stuff for years (D'Oh!) so, anyway, for those that don't know, here's
the "blue tack lanyard" in action.

Is your method really easier, or something?
I mean, don't the bits just fly apart?

I think that's the point, it keeps the pieces from flying about.

Kinda takes the fun out of it though. Flying Pieces Roulette: "Wonder where
that piece went? Oh well, I'll find it the next time I vacuum." or "Ouch
my eye!!"

You're right, it sucks all the fun out of the "Grey bit on grey garage floor
hide-n-seek".
I don't want to think about the number of SM grenades and pouches that are
lurking in the corners.
I also thought that this could be an Olympic event, " Snipping for
Distance", which isn't to be confused with "Angry Throwing of Bitz At The
Wall Because They Won't Do As They're Told And Fit On the Damn Mini
Already!!!!!'

For super accurate cuts like in the pic, a razor saw is better. The
blade is thinner than an exacto blade, and because it's not bevelled
it will cut much straighter.

But otherwise, yes, cutting with an exacto or clippers is what I
normally do as well, and even just sticking a blob of blue tack on the
bit you're not holding will make it drop straight down instead of
flying around, and the funky colors they make the putty in is more
visible.

I have a stress ball for that. It is infititely more satisfying to
throw it into a stack of boxes than a krak grenade bit Surprised)

Speaking of razor saws, does anyone know what size (thickness) the new GW
razor saw is? I bought a similar Xacto saw a while ago, and even the
smallest of the two blades isnt thin enough to cut smaller metal/plastic
bits without making one part useless/distorted.
If it's as good as WD propaganda claims, I might be willing to shell out the
money to get one.

I was just thinking, how could they drop their trousers and run....ok
fine I want to see them drop their trousers, but for science (is a
Space Marine's junk atrophied, cut off?)

Is this the same WD propaganda that claimed everyone would want a
L*m*rt*s figure, they invented miniature gaming AND acrylic paints,
and half the world plays GorkaMorka?

I can happily and honestly say this thought did not cross my mind until I
read this post.

The tip on a sidenote is quite good. I had never considered this. I just
had a couple of friends hang out and tried to put their eyes out as it was
far funner than looking for the bit. =)

At any rate I'm better now, but for a while I felt like I had played
