I've had DirecTV and Tivo for about 4 years. I'm beginning the planning
stages for an upgrade in the family room to an HDTV system, and I'm
confused. The issues are:

1) What Tivo receiver do I need?
2) Do I need a new dish? Mine is a dual-LNB.
3) What about local channels? I'm in an area (near Sacramento CA) that
has local channels thru DirecTV.

The unit that appears to be available is an HR10-250, but it appears I
would need an off-air antenna for the local channels. Is that correct?

I've also seen reference to a new model to be available in the next few
months (HR20-250) that will not need the off-air antenna. Should I wait
for that?

Thanks!

The HR10-250 is the only HD TiVo for DirecTv

Triple LNB and new Dish

Any locals owned by Network will grant waiver to receive Los Angeles
Networks.

Avoid it like the plague. It will not be a TiVo.

Where abouts? I live in Elk Grove and get most of the local HD OTA with an
antenna DTV installed for me.

I just upgraded to HD 3 weeks ago and picked up an HR10-250 for $169.
$499-$330 in real dollar credits on my account. Took 2 phone calls and
a bit of complaining, but well worth it.
