So... I just got a new HDTV and was eager to see how some of my progressive
scan enabled Gamecube games would look using this feature. According to the
manual, the only place to get the cable necessary to view game in
progressive scan is to order then from nintendo.com. Seemed simple enough,
but when I went to the site I found that the Gamecube component video cable
was no longer being sold there.
I cannot believe that with the Gamecube successor not even out yet, they've
already stopped the sale of this cable. Am I going to have to abandon any
hope of ever viewing my Gamecube game in progressive scan? If anyone out
there uses an HDTV to play their Gamecube games I'd really like to hear from
them. Where you able to find the necessary component video cable? Is the
higher resolution offered by progressive scan mode really worth searching
ebay for these things, or should I just wait for Wii?
And input would be appreciated.. >> Stay informed about: HD on Gamecube |

there's a bunch on ebay, but the buy it now prices are high ($68!?) and
the bidding seems pretty fierce

Yes, big improvement. Your best bet now that Nintendo is out of the
cables is play-asia.com, which shows a compatible Japanese cable
as in stock for $49.90.
Or, as you say, wait for Wii.

Thanks to everyone who responded.
"Wait for Wii" was basically what I was told when I called Nintendo about
this. I guess that's one way to increase interest in your new system.
