Guitar Hero III on the Wii

Thanks for the response, but I'm still a little foggy. So Guitar Hero
III for the Wii *can* be bought without all the extra gear, correct?
Can I use the same guitar he uses with the PlayStation 2 and plug it
into the Wii-mote or do I need to buy another guitar especially for
the Wii?

Currently, you cannot buy Guitar Hero III for the Wii as just a game -
you can only buy it with the guitar. Unfortunately, the PS2 guitar is
not compatible with the Wii. Either you need to buy the bundle
(guitar+game) for the Wii or you can buy just the game for the PS2 and
he can play it on his PS2.
