For Greyhawk DMs:

What the heck is out there? Is there any official info on it?

I have some Marco Polo types who are interested in going
"off the map".

You might try Canonfire...likely to be references there if there is anything
published. Nothing that I know of.

There have been a few continent and world maps, but usually without any
geographical or political references. One I saw had nation references
and short one- or two-line blurbs about each region, but I disliked
most of those, and most were pretty obviously and poorly based on
real-world "exotic" cultures (the islands suspiciously Japan-shaped
named Nippon, for instance).

For several years, I actually ran a "Central Oerik" game, bordered on
the east by the Baklunish steppes and the Sea of Dust (and their
attendant western and southern mountain ranges), and bordered on the
west by the big honkin' multi-range mountain chain that cuts through
Oerik. Has a nice, large (and possibly shallow) sea, making for great
storms along the coasts, has a lot of area that's likely to run the
gamut of terrain types: desert, forest, tundra, jungle, plains, and so
on.

To the OP: If you'd like more information on what I did for Central
Oerik, let me know, as I've pretty much stopped working on it since
getting and falling in love with Eberron.

The western half of the continent.

>Is there any official info on it?

Yes. In one of the Dragon annuals was a map allegedly found in
Gygax's attic (or something like that), but there was some debate
about its authenticity. I'd have to look through my collection
for more details, but I am pretty sure it included in the 1998
Greyhawk materials.

There was a lot of talk on the Greytalk mailing list on
running such a campaign. Remind me to look it up as well.

It is simply breathtaking to watch the glee and abandon with which
the liberal media and the Angry Left have been attempting to turn
our military victory in Iraq into a second Vietnam quagmire. Too bad
for them, it's failing.

You've seen the movie "The Village"? Beyond the Sea of Dust is a fence,
beyond that a road and a petrol station.

That'd freak 'em out.

"What's a 'petrol station'? And why are those short iron golems sticking
their fingers in their ears?".

Or a wall, with a door, and beyond the door the inside of the Star Ship
Enterprise.

"How was your holodeck experience, sir?"
