Something just occurred to me. I'm finding plenty of references to
multicarts and people making them. However, I found only one reference of
someone making replica overlays for the Vectrex, and his page is apparently
404.
I notice some homebrewers have overlays for their titles like Spike's Circus
and the upcoming Vector Pilot and such (as soon as that last one is
released, I am SO buying a copy). How do they make their own overlays?
They can't just use the regular transparencies, those would be too thin,
right? Or are those transparencies just as good, just thinner and
different from the "canon" overlays? If I ever get around to creating my
own game for the Vectrex, such a thing might be a good idea.
Also, does anyone know if Good Deal Games' Vec Boxing comes with the overlay
that the web site shows, or is it cart only? >> Stay informed about: The Great Overlay Mystery |

Hi Pete,
- Vecboxing is released in a limited edition with overlay (only 13 copies
available, so i'm very happy to own one myself :p) and regular edition
without overlay.
- Spike's circus comes with overlay and can be bought from madtronix.com
Overlays can be produced in various ways (from professional offset printing
to home-efforts).
I'm personally very pleased with overlays for e.g. Protector LE and my own
Colorclash. Last time i talked to Kristof he told me he was looking into
getting some overlays made with offsetprinting (like the old days), so i'm
anxious to see how that will turn out. I also believe madtronix will offer
overlays soon to a bunch of games.

PS> Any other Vecsports boxing LE owners beside me and mat speak up, i'm
curious to see who have the other 11 copies.

Proud owner of #7 here. Manu wrote it using my Southern Cross EPROM
emulator (with custom vec interface).
That Vec interface has a lot of history in it. It was the *exact one*
that John Dondzilla used to write the historic Vector Vaders with.
John was making up a Vec interface for my Southern Cross and had a
problem with it, so he sent me his own Vec interface instead of making
me wait. >> Stay informed about: The Great Overlay Mystery |

Haha, i knew that manu used a specific interface, but didn't know it was the
same as john used for vectorvaders///

Looking at my copy of the Spike's Circus overlay it appears to be a
sandwich of an inkjet printed color transparency and a white ink
(probably printed on an Alps MD printer). It has hand-trimmed
corners. There might be another (3rd) clear layer but I'm not sure.
And I'm not about to rip it apart.
Home-brewed for sure. But IMO clever design and very well made.
