Good quest for horde warlock?

I'm working on the quest where you have to go into Pyrewood and
retreive a book. The reward is a decent wand w/ shadow damage instead
of my stupid fireball wand.

Is there a quest (even if its on the alliance side) that a lvl 17 can
do for lock items? Deadmines has, if I'm not mistaken, a set for
rogues. Where should I go?

First of all, Wand damage does not count as elemental spell damage. So
it makes no difference as a Warlock if your Wand is frost, shadow,
fire, nature or arcane. Your Wand damage won't benefit from any of your
Warlock class talents.

Some of the best cheap early-game wands come from Enchanters, and you
see them on the Auction House all the time for very little cost. Like
the ubiquitous L26 Lesser Mystic Wand. There are other decent BoE wands
for a L17 on the AH too, like the 15 DPS Opaque Wand. I personally
don't think it's worth the money to buy blue wands like Skycaller, or
run WC over and over to get Firebelcher. You level so fast in your
teens that unless you're a Battleground twink there are more important
things to worry about.

Beyond Wands, one of the best things about playing a caster is that
very little of your DPS comes from gear. While you can't tremendously
boost your damage output, you're also freed from having to fret about
your weapon constantly. That said, the Crescent Staff (a blue quest
reward from finishing Wailing Caverns) is worth it. Pair that up with
some simple "Of The Eagle" cloth gear from the AH and you'll be fine.

Eventually in your early 30's you'll get the Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe
from a class quest chain.
