Anyone here play Ghostbusters using the GURPS rules set?

I'm planning a game, and I was wondering how people model the tech. I'm taking
the old "Villains and Vigilantes" approach of taking powers (or in this case
advantages) calling it a device and applying a power cost.

For instance, a Ghostbusters Partical Thrower is basically Binding with some
modifiers.

If anyone would like to share notes or point me to articles or web pages, I'd
appreciate it.

Thanks

One of the entrie in "GURPS All-Star Jam" is about busting ghosts. It is
something like 6-10 pages on a subject, leaning closely up against the
Ghostbusters movie.

Is that one available digitally? I'm preparing for a game next week and my FLGS
doesn't have a copy in stock (at least according to their site).

There's 10,000 words of Ken Hite on ghost-busting technology of all
tech levels in *GURPS All-Star Jam*.

Well, I guess I'm not going to get a copy before Thursday. My next question is,
Is it worth it?

I know that as a regular writer for SJGames, you've got a vested interest in
seeing these books sell. While Kenneth Hite is a good writer, I find most of his
articles are full of ideas and short on crunchy game material. For me, one
well-drawn map is worth ten articles on high concept towns with no pictures.

Anyway, thanks for your input.

You could try rush-ordering it from Noble Knight, <
http://www.nobleknight.com >. Of course, that's expensive, but on the
other hand they followed through with SJ Games downpricing of 3E books
last year, and lowered the price not to $10 but to $9. If that is the
case, it might be worth 9$+shipping.

I'll re-read the article later tonight to see how crunchy it is, then
post a few lines.

In general, however, I was unimpressed by the book in its entirety. The
long articles (or essays) in it didn't happen to cover subjects that
interest me much.

Well, there's a bestiary of ghosts, and a couple of pages of
ghostbusting equipment, for various TLs, including equipment very
similar to the one used in the Ghostbusters movie.

Thanks. I guess I'll try and get a hold of it.

I'm trying to imagine TL-0 Ghostbusting equipment, and how
exactly it would be used.

Now you're having me thinking about GURPS Og, a GURPS-ified version of
the Wingnut Games RPG where the players can only use combinations of
about ten words to communicate, plus whatever gestures and tone of
voice they can muster.

The rules said it was intended to simulate the limitations of caveman
language, but I thinki they did it because you can always get a laugh
out of "Hit big ugly smelly thing!" when surrounded by big ugly smelly
things (including yourself).
