I'm new to game software.

I've got GTA San Andreas, e.2.

Any opinions about what the best game control is? I'm running it on a PC
using Win xp.

Thanks

Many people swear by the mouse and keyboard combo but I personally prefer a
Playstation-type USB gamepad. That's really what the game was designed
for.

In San Andreas, best game control is mouse and keyboard when on foot
and Playstation-style game pad when driving.

Personally I use mouse/keyboard for everything but flying. Other than
that, I have been using an xbox 360 controller for that flying in the last
couple of play throughs. The only downside to it is that what would be the
R2 and L2 buttons are triggers that aren't recognized by SA itself (nor, it
seems, is the second analog stick), but that can be solved with the SAAC
mod and/or the Pinnacle Game Profiler.

Assuming you get one with analog buttons, or at least two pressure
settings, like on the DualShock, so you can get a cruising speed and an
all-out speed (with most pads, and with the PS2->USB adapter I have, you're
stuck with only the all-out speed option, which makes steering difficult at
times Smile.

Get hold of the San Andreas Advanced Control from
http://toca.game-editing.net/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=29 as well
and you can have it set up *exactly* the same as the PS2 controller,
including vibration effects. I'm using the original UK version of GTA:SA
with a no DVD patch (I paid for the game but I hate having to use a DVD as a
big dongle) and it works fine.
