Hi there!

I have a European (PAL) version Game Gear.

I've found some great deals on ebay for a few games. They are American
(NTSC), though.

The question is: Will American games play on my European Game Gear (and vice
versa)? Do all Game Gears play games from all around the world?

Thanks a lot!

OK, found it!

"Like all handheld consoles, the Game Gear lacks region lock-out, meaning a
Japanese cartridge will play on an American system or vice-versa without
requiring any special surgery or dubious swap tricks."

Thanks anyway!

My only concern is, you say you have a PAL GG, but that you're going to
be putting NTSC games into it...could that mess anything up? I mean, I
know that you could put an NTSC Japanese GG cart into a US NTSC GG and
all, but I'm not sure about the whole PAL/NTSC thing...

Hi! Thanks for your reply!

I'm not sure if these PAL/NTSC differences exist in the early portable
consoles, as in the home consoles that are connected to a TV. I can't find a
reason why they should exist, as the handheld consoles are not connected to
a TV. So I guess European/American/Japanese games should all be the same.
The only thing that I'd be afraid of would be software region-lock to the
games, but I don't think it exists, I guess it will be just like in the
Gameboy cartridges (no lock).

I'm also interested in getting US/Japanese accessories
(controllers/memories/light gun) for Sega Dreamcast for use on my European
(PAL) Dreamcast. Do you think they'll work?

Thank you very much!

for the TV tuner, I dont think there will be any PAL/NTSC issues
because it goes to the LCD screen similar to the portable TV models out
there.

This might be an issue for the TV Tuner; anyone know for sure?
