Game Crashing To Desktop

I've just tried to open my game and i'm getting the error box "the
application has crashed. the application will now terminate."

I don't know whats happened, it was fine last night and i've done nothing
out of the ordinary on my PC that i can think of that would cause it. I done
a restore back to yesterday but it never helped.

I've tried resetting all my game files but it's still giving me the error,
is there anything else i could try before i have to reinstall them all
again?

Try deleting groups.cache - it's a file in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2
