Yeah, and once you get approved all the threads are locked and it's just
Gamesday info...

And here I thought that maybe they actually wanted to engage in
meaningful dialoge with their customers. What the hell was I thinking?

The entertainment potential is still unlimited for a certain mindset.
The wealth of gaffes and faux pas on the UK site was prodigious.
I refer to posts by employees, not customers, here . . .

Developers that didn't know the rules, writers that couldn't write,
etc.

Obsenity on the Boards
AdiWood
9/2/2001 3:46

Attention has been drawn to an article posted by Azguz over the
weekend. I haven't read it myself as it was quite rightly deleted.
Apparently it contained gross profanity. Azguz is history. He has been
banned.

I'm more than disappointed, I thought we had an understanding, but
obviously I need to make things clear once again. I will not tolerate:

1. Swearing/expletives (this includes adding symbols inside
expletives, we all know what you intend!)

2. Taking the Lord's Name in vain (old fashioned, but you know exactly
what I mean).

3. Obsene material.

Remember that this board is all about gaming, games developing, rules
and staying on topic. Its not about money, calling fellow board users
and members of GW staff, Flaming, whining about Codexes, other
people's products and reposting something because either you didn't
get the attention you wanted the first time or it got deleted for the
afformentioned reasons.

I will delete threads, I will ban obusers of the boards.

i can't even figure out what that is supposed to mean/imply. what were you
SUPPOSED to call employees if you weren't aware of their exact job title?
"massuh" perhaps ...

i also enjoy how the boards weren't about "other people's products", yet
apparently they WERE all about preserving the sanctity of judaeochristian
faith. truly bizarre.

I think Playa is pointing out that these so called 'staff' were
little or nothing more than GW fanboyz / employees that didn't know
their ass from a hole in the ground when it came to operating /
moderating a forum (or knowing GW's products for that matter).

I also find it 'unfortunate' that GW gamers often had to turn to
the GW forums for something remotely approaching a timely answer to
rules questions or fixes to obvious problems - while waiting ages for an
official PDF file to be updated and released... (Having typed it up on
the forums - how hard would it have been to forward the same text to an
office money and have them update a PDF file? They do have the
originals don't they?)

Maybe you were on 'the wrong interwebz!'. Personally I want to be
banned for being an 'obuser'. I'm wondering if that's anything like
being a GW forum L-user?

Personally I would aspite to being banned for being a blasphemer and taking
the Lord's name in vain. Especially as I'm unsure exactly which Lord's name
I'd have to take in vain to accomplish the task - Jesu bar Joseph of the
Christian 'fluff' tradition or the immortal soul-sucker ensconced upon his
golden throne on Terra of the Games Workshop 'fluff' tradition.

also thou shalt not post on the sabath.

I think its ironic that a company that essentially makes covetable graven
images for a living would have any commandment up there. No murdering other
posters either.

yeah, i meant i couldn't understand what the moderator was upset about. I
wasn't aware that "staff" was an offensive term in its own right.

No obscene material? Wouldn't that prevent discussion of Games
Workshop games in the first place? Or would it just apply to material
written by Thorpe, Cavatore, and Johnson? I'm guessing people weren't
allowed to post images of McVey's or Morley's work either?

And sincere concern . . .

Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I wasn't there often, but I was under the impression the 'S' word was enough
to get any thread deleted immediately, and probably the poster thrown off.

Most of your others looked plausible though.
