Post subject: GTA - San Andreas: How do I make this game easier to play?
Archived from groups: alt>games>grand-theft-auto (more info?)

Before I start I have to say I'm aware of the cheats available for this
game and have applied some but they did not help much.

I'm not really a games buff but like to play some games just to follow
the storyline and I like the graphics and scenery. I don't like getting
stuck at a stage/level and having to repeat it 20-30 times. I just lose
interest in the game when that happens too often.

I would like to play San Andreas to the end with minimum challenges.
Unfortunately there is no 'difficulty level' setting to select a
low difficulty level. The game has been very stop start for me. OK I
understand if your have to repeat a stage/level 5-10 times before you
beat it, but I was getting stuck on stages for weeks at a time with
more than 30 tries without success. I was stuck on, 'Wrong side of the
tracks' for such a long time that I lost interest in the game
completely. I have now restarted it after a long lay off. I applied
some cheats only to get stuck again and 'Just Business'. When I
couldn't beat that stage I switched to 'Robbing Uncle Sam' but got
stuck there too. To be honest I'm more interested in the storyline than
doing difficult challenges.

I have already applied the cheats below but they have not helped.

-Max All Vehicle stats (Driving, Flying Bike, Cycling)
-$250,000, full health and armour (also repairs cars if you are in one)
-Hitman In all weapon

Any ideas on how to make the game easier to play for someone like me
who is more interested in the story than going through difficult
challenges?

Thanks in advance.

As far as the cheating, I say you paid for the San Andreas reality.. you
should be able to alter it.

However, if you still can't enjoy the game even after cheating. All I
can suggest is to either watch somebody play it to the end or give it up
altogether.

Now this reads like the OP's another in the set of GTA gamers that get
frustrated easily with the missions and would rather just roam around
in the GTA world.

I think that's very understandable - when you come up against "fun"
things like Zero, I think most of us sometimes feel like that at times.
Wink

To these people my advice is usually the same - if you're not bothered
about cheating, why not load a '100% complete' save file off gamfaqs
(dependent on platform of course).

GTA should be experienced & enjoyed by everyone, not just the hardcore
gamers. =)

I have to go with Paul there. Most of the guides (And Gamefaqs is
included) just say "Kill person A, move to point B" but don't give you
any good strategies or tactics.

On this newsgroup on the other hand are plenty of people who know the
game inside-out and can give you info to pass any mission with ease.

By the way, whatever happened to the aggta FAQ? Is it worth compiling
an updated version to include SA and LCS?

Cheers,
Rob

I actually answered my own question - The FAQ was reposted so often
that I killfiled it.

The last copy I had only had advice for VC.

There are savegames available that you can use to place yourself at just
about any point in the game. If you can't finish a mission, find a savegame
for a point AFTER that mission.

Also ... someone put out a series of video caps of EVERY mission. So,
instead of reading about each mission, these videos show you what to do. I
don't remember where I found them. But have look. They're out there.

No - I didn't killfile it - and I've stopped getting it, too.

I wonder where it's gone then? Chances are that it wasn't posted any
more due to the lack of posts.

This happens regularly with every new GTA release, the amount of posts
dies down considerably after the game has been out for more than 8-12
months.

On a similar note, I'm thinking of writing an easy reference guide for
the No-Stars missions to stick on gamefaqs. SA seems to have renewed
interest on the forums at the moment.

Cheers,
Rob

A most excellent idea, even though it's too late for me. Razz

I really wish I had one of those Dex Drive thingies that can copy
memory card files on to a PC.

As mentioned in another thread, I've got a save which has *everything*
done, except for the storyline missions.

You wouldn't believe how long the SF and LV courier and Chiliad
Challenges took....

Thanks for the tips guys. I forgot to mention that I'm using a PS2
version of the game. So I cannot download and apply save games to skip
the levels I'm having difficulty beating.

As someone mentioned, the walkthroughs do not really help much in terms
of specific tips to easily beat the stages. They just take your through
what you need to do as you move along.

I guess I'll have search on here when I get stuck to see if someone has
posted something about that stage.

I'm playing SA on PS2 so cannot download and apply save games from the
internet Sad Thanks for the tips regarding the Uncle Sam mission, I'll
try it. I have read through some faqs and walkthroughs on the game but
the ones I've seen do not give specific tips like what you wrote here.
I wish I could find a walkthrough/guide that gives specific alternative
(easier) routes to completing each mission like this.

I guess when I get stuck I'll come here and search through previous
posts to see if someone has posted something I can use to trick my way
through.

Thanks again.
