Six threads down from this one to be exact, on my newsreader anyway.
I received the "official confirmation" on Friday afternoon and posted it
then. That's not to say that Rockstar won't change their minds later on,
though. >> Stay informed about: GTA IV's Episodic Content EXCLUSIVE to Xbox 360 |

Not to get defensive, but no it wasn't.
The Take Two financial statement, which failed to mention PS3 episodic
content for GTA, was a few days old, yes (and we reported on that at the
time as well). However, the sites that pointed to this omission as "fact"
that the content would be exclusive to Xbox 360 didn't bother to contact
Take Two or Rockstar...or at least they didn't get confirmation before
publishing their conjectures. I'm fairly certain that, judging from all the
sites who have since cited our story, we were the first to publish Take
Two/Rockstar's official words on the subject...as few words as there were.
Is it a big deal? Perhaps not, but at least give us some credit where
credit is due.
<soapbox>
The rumor that GTA episodic content would be exclusive to Xbox 360 has been
floating around a lot longer than the recent financial report, but so what?
There have been rumors of a PSP redesign for months now. If a site is the
first to publish official confirmation from Sony that the PSP is being
redesigned with a phone and a camera, I'd say that they were "first" with
the news...even if it is only a confirmation of prior rumors. After all,
anyone can print a rumor. If so-called "games journalism" is ever going to
rise above its current state, a good start would be to actually speak with
company representatives before publishing rumors as fact.

IMO it'll probably be more than a map pack but not outrageous I don't think.
What I wonder is if this "episodic content" is going to extend the single
player game or if it's going to be multiplayer content. >> Stay informed about: GTA IV's Episodic Content EXCLUSIVE to Xbox 360 |

BINGO!
the other thing i'm wondering is if Rockstar wont just rerelease the PS3
version (think greatest hits) with the missing content.
From what i can tell there's going to be 2 episodes. Live price will likely
be $15 each. So $30 for the PS3 greatest hits "full" version, eventually.
50 million would make me push some content Microsofts way too! >> Stay informed about: GTA IV's Episodic Content EXCLUSIVE to Xbox 360 |

No apparently in a investors meeting, TakeTwo or Rockstar said MS paid
$50 million. The first one will apparently be in March 08 and they have
to reflect it as revenues on their balance sheet since we're within 12
months of that.
Who know how much it will cost to add the DLC though, on top of the $60
game.
Sony should have plied Rockstar with money for exclusive content on the
Blu-Ray disc though. That would have been the smart strategic move,
more content on a disc that has more capacity and you don't need a hard
drive to download or pay additional money for DLC.
Also, TakeTwo expressed confidence that the game would help sell PS3s.
I rather hear more about online modes though. >> Stay informed about: GTA IV's Episodic Content EXCLUSIVE to Xbox 360 |

Probably a significant amount, if there is that much of a demand for it. If
the content is as big as they are suggesting, I can see them asking $20 for
each new "episode."

Agreed, although unfortunately Sony doesn't have the same amount of $ to
burn as MS does. Especially not when they are already losing so much money
on each PS3, and will soon have to drop the price anyway.
> Also, TakeTwo expressed confidence that the game would help sell PS3s.
That was true only with the original games on PS2. People bought systems to
play GTA. Perhaps that would also be the case now if GTA IV were a PS3
exclusive, or maybe if the PS3 version came out months ahead of the 360
version. However, with a simultaneous release, I doubt GTA will sell PS3s.
Just imagine if GTA III and Vice City were released on Xbox at the same time
as PS2...
