Galactic Civilization 2 must be one of the best games I have played for
years. But I am having a problem about mid way during a game, keeping
track of which freighters are trading with which planets. I am sure
that I am missing something either visually on the galaxy map, or a
note on a screen somewhere. Any help appreciated.

Hi!
> keeping track of which freighters are trading with which planets
I'm a bit confused. When you establish a trade route, the game draws a
line that connects those two planets, and a miniature trade ship is
traveling along that line. If you zoom out the main map to the "icon"
level you can easily spot them. However in the trade window there's no
highlighting of the particular trade route if you click on it - I'd say
a glitch.

On related note, does the amount of trade from a particular route
depend of the economic strenght of involved planets, or is it only a
function of the distance between them - the rurther the higher?
So far I couldn't tell the difference, as I had trade routes from Earth
(my econ capital) to HWs of a race and to class 5 planets of the same
race, but further away, and trade routes from my class 8 planet much
further away to the same planets, and all routes are giving about the
same revenue (6 or 7). OTOH a trade ship from Korx just landed and
opened a route with revenue 11.
Any hints please?
BR, Iztok

The amount of income you receive from trading depends on three factors.
First, the distance the freighter has to go. Second, the populations of the
freighters "home" planet, and third, the population of the target planet. By
home planet I mean the one which built the freighter.

So, with that in mind, as usually the earth will start of as a class 10
planet (in all of my games anyway), it's not necessarily the best planet to
have all of you're freighters coming from as you'll usually always find a
class 16 somewhere.

Oh, and of course economy starbases with the freighter profit modules in
range of (and intersecting) the freighters trade route of course. Careful to
note, star bases don't "fill" the entire sector that they are placed in.
They have their own radius around them.

I am 99.95% sure that that is still in the game, from casually looking at my
trade income from time to time. (It also says so in one of the popup/help/tech
screens).
