I was skeptical when I first read about the Micro, but after playing on one
today -- man, I want one now.
Sure, the backlit screen is much more vivid and vibrant than my old
(frontlit) SP, but what really snagged me was how compact the thing is.
I compared it with my old SP by playing "Sonic Advance 2", which I had
played through on the SP more than once. I read about the "blur" with the
Micro due to it's refresh rate being less than the SP, but honestly I had to
look for it as it is so subtle.
Its been written many times, but the thing sure is mobile. Especially since
you can just swap out the faceplate if and when it gets dinged up. I put my
SP, DS, and PSP in the "portable" catagory, but not "mobile" because of the
care you want to take to protect them. The only thing I have that I
consider truely "mobile" is my cell phone and thats also because of the
swappable faceplates. Because the cell phone can always be "restored to
brand new" cheaply, I toss that thing around with complete disregard.
Ugh, now I'm deciding if its really worth it. Well, the Micro is definetly
worth $90, but is whatever value I still place with the SP worth putting it
into "retirement" -- because with the Micro thats where it will go. I still
don't want to part with the SP!
....and, of course, Nintendo has the damn backlit SP out now too! As much as
I'd love to bite on that, I think I'll pass it up. If I'm going to "waste"
more $$ on something that I "really don't need" it'll be because of more
than just a backlit screen but the mobility of the Micro.
So, for those that already have a (frontlit) SP and DS, did you bite on the
Micro or new backlit SP? What reasons did you use to justifying "wasting"
$$ on something "you really didn't need"? >> Stay informed about: Damn GBA Micro and Backlit SP's! |

I stuck with the Original GBA (with Afterburner installed) because I
think the SP is just to hard to hold. The micro is a thing to behold,
but I passed on it too (even when I found Costco had 'em for 49.99 (USD)
before Christmas) because I just didn't NEED it. >> Stay informed about: Damn GBA Micro and Backlit SP's! |

i got a micro because as an original GBA owner i found that unless i was
under the sun or a 400w halogen lamp i couldn't see a bloody thing!
the micro gets more use than any other console in my house... it's
awesome, and it's the same size as my sony ericsson k700i, so it's just
like carrying another small phone
i bought zelda: minish cap yesterday, i can't believe they can get so
much good game into such a small cart
the only problem is the warioware twisted cart looks like a huge tumor
growing out of the gameboy's ass
oh, and the faceplates... i got a black one (good) and an electric blue
one (ugh) included, but do you ever see any others for sale ? no >> Stay informed about: Damn GBA Micro and Backlit SP's! |

You are wise. I wish I could be, but that Micro is sure tempting. LOL >> Stay informed about: Damn GBA Micro and Backlit SP's! |

Oh, who am I kidding, I'll probably break and buy a Micro before the end of
next week!
The only GBA stuff I really play anymore is just NES emulation, but I'm sure
a Micro would give new life to going back to the GBA games! >> Stay informed about: Damn GBA Micro and Backlit SP's! |
