Post subject: Forgot The Name Of A Chess-Like Game. Any Help?

Guys, I was thinking back to my favorite old games for the early pcs.
Well, I had this game that looked a lot like a chess board and a battle
chess like setup but when the pieces would meet the game would switch
to a arcade style battle that you could actually fight in. Note: The
game was not actually chess. The game started with an A but I cant for
the life of me remember what it was called. Can anyone help me?

Archon. I remember playing that on the IBM PCjr, the least compatible
PC-compatible ever made. By IBM no less.

Archon or Archon Ultra. Classic. There have been a few similar games
since then such as Dark Legions.
