Air Traffic Control:
I don't know if there is an error in the software, but when I fly this
lesson, there is a point when you are to be in contact with Payne Field (?)
to land, during which time, the virtual instructor has control of the plane.
For some reason, though, I find that we just fly endlessly, and I am never
given control of the airplane so as to enter the pattern and then land.
There is no further contact with the control towereven if I am lucky enough
to reach the point where you acknowledge the Squwak Code after the ATC
handoff.
IFR approach and landing:
I have been able to track both the VOR and the glide slope from 2200 feet.
From that point, after a few runs of this lesson, have been able to track
both very accurately. The problem arises when I get close to the airport (at
which point, the runway and PAPI become visible from a few hundred feet
altitude). Shouldn't the instructor be telling you to land the plane at this
point? I find I am still being told to correct the aircaft speed (90 knots
approach speed) and position during this final approach (when I see the
runway, I try to keep myself lined up with the runway). I even manage to
land the aircraft and come to a stop (by now, the correction tells me to
speed up), yet the corrective instructions keep coming.
Please let me know if I am missing something in either case.
