I'm in the process of finishing up a character for Mage: The Ascension (an
Adept), and there's a particular Flaw I'd like but which isn't listed in the
main book. So at the ST's orders, I am to write him up a decent suggestion
as to how it would work.
The Flaw is basically this: overconcentration. That is, when the character
concentrates he concentrates a bit too much, becoming less aware of his
surroundings and perhaps becoming a bit absent minded as to any other tasks.
The character also has the Concentration merit, by the way.
I figure that such a Flaw would be worth 1 point. The game mechanics I
initially though of was something like: 2 higher difficulty for Alertness
rolls when concentrating. But there's the Ineptitude Flaw which does exactly
this, increasing the difficulty with some ability by 2, which isn't relative
to a specific situation. Plus, this game mechanic doesn't say anything
about, say, forgetting about certain other things when concentrating...

Well, first I'd give the flaw a name like "Tunnel Vision". Making it more
difficult to perform perception based checks unrelated to your current task
is a good start, although I might expand it to an increased difficulty on
ALL checks not directly related to your current task. I might also penalize
your first initiative check should combat begin.
