Scary thought for 4th ed revenue enhancement... - I wonder if WOTC has selling card 'splat decks' as part of 4th ed. It struck me recently that they could make some real money by selling card decks with extra good on them and adding these to the rules set..

How much heat does the Flame weapon enhancement produce? Could you, for
example, use that heat alone as a survival tool? I can see several
advantages to it over an actual fire: no smoke and it consumes no fuel.
Does it consume oxygen?

I can just see some fighter heating his dinner over his +1 Flaming Axe...

Or a sword to cook and carve meat at the same time.

Definitely a DM's call on this one. Technically, the only time it definitely
produces heat is when the wielder attacks with it, so using it as a heat
source might require striking it repeatedly against the nearest inanimate
object. Also, the flames that wreath the blade are specifically described as
doing no harm to the wielder, so it could easily be argued that they provide
no warmth for him either.

I'd tend to rule that magical flame does not consume or require oxygen, but
again this is up to the DM.

Here's my opinion... due to the nature of the magic, it's too cold to do any
"work" with, but it does provide some modicum of heat, in very cold
circumstances. In game mechanics, it shifts the weilder's cold resistance
checks up one level on the chart.

(this assumes you have the frostburn supplement though... no suggestions if
you do not.)
