Just got it today. I really appreciate George's minimalist design,
cool font, and the use of the music or motif from Dark Tower. I of
course went straight for the manual and pressed 2 and 4 to start up 3D
LOTR Wink ... I didn't expect it to be stationary, but thats fine. I
went after the meca and shuriken they throw at you. On my first play I got
up to the orb that slings a huge 2x4 at you (I said "Whoa!") .. The 3D effect
is near perfect! I hope that the release of the game will have more action
and movement and be possibly made a little harder. Another aspect would be
possibly having a laser that loses power as while its tured on and regains
power as it rests. That could be shown with the shield meter, maybe?
Also, I hope the robots will go more than on direction and perhaps approach
and or change direction at random.

Even if there is no movement, it might be nice to at least be able to
rotate 360 and watch the cool mountain range change. It would be neat
to have two moons too Wink

Fistful is fun and a great improvement over the early 21 version that
went out (and subsequently field upgraded, very cool on your part George!)

Thanks again and keep at it!

Thanks Stephen. I will definitely consider the suggestions you've made
for the final version, and try to work in what I can. Doing the 3D
games adds a whole new set of limitations on what, and how much, can be
done.

George, Awesome job! (3D LOTR of course)

The 2x4 laser beam kicks ass!
Whats the strange smart bomb cross hair thing? I love how it floats.

I think it's already THE best 3D Vectrex game and this is only
pre-release!!

I have some great news too. I tried LOTR with my GCE imager and it
worked pretty well. A few slow downs but generally very playable. I
assumed this was par for the course in the pre-release amd was most
satisfied. However I just got some of the NEW wheels for the Macallan
3D Imager today ( http://www.madtronix.com/html/3d_imager.html ) and it
played flawlessly. Absolutely spot on. Macallan Imager ..Better results
without a blackened forehead from the rotting foam headband or the
"ohmigod mustn't drop it" mantra. John you can use this as your catchy
sales slogan without royalities. Wink

George, I assume you have a reusable 3D timing engine that explains the
series of 3D games up and coming from Fury (
http://www.furyunlimited.com/_sgg/m1m1_1.htm ) Is this the case and do
you feel it will satisfy all your future 3D games, or will you use
totally different codebases as Narrow Escape and Crazy Coaster did
(unsuccessfully) ?

Great stuff!

Cheers Alex

Thank you, Alex. I'm glad you like the game and 3D effects!
The thing you're mentioning is the shield, when pressing button 2.
The pre-release is not perfect. You've noted some slow downs,
which is a part of the reason why I'm re-writing the engine for the
official release.

Where's MY Maccallan imager? Having released a new 3D game,
I really wish I had one. Everyone has one, but me.

The forehead joke is so true. The powdery, deteriorating foam
is a complete mess.

The 3D coding can be used in any 3D game. I could probably
convert any 2D game into a 3D game, but would need someone
to send me some very readable code. I don't have enough
time to decipher code.

Hi Robert,

Thanks, glad you like it!

>From what I'm hearing, apparently the Maccallan
Imager actually works better with the pre-release
than the original GCE Imager. So if you're using
Maccallan's Imager you probably won't experience
any slow downs. Otherwise, they're very rare and
they won't occur in the final release (due to some
code fixes being implemented).

Hey, that 2x4 killed me. Smile

I didn't get that far (so far). Smile

I can hardly wait for the full release.

Slow downs? What do you mean?

New wheels? I still have the original wheels that came with the
Macallan 3D Imager.

Hey, by the way, have you gotten any response from John on your
missing 3D Imager?

@George:
I replied to your last mail within one day for confirming your address
and asking for money Wink
I will send it again later when I'm on the other computer in a few
hours.

@all:
Everybody who has paid for his stuff has already recieved his items
weeks or month ago (exept Chris' special order which is the only one
pending (shame on me:-)))

IF your stuff got lost in the mail, please contact me via email, i'm
not reading rgv very often these days (university exams). Don't wory i
only do insured shipping!

I'm not actively taking preorders (=money) now but i marked all
inquiries (quite a lot) as "URGENT" so i will reply on september 29th
when my university exams are over. So if you're interested in new
hardware drop me a line and i'll reply BEFORE october.
>From next month on i will have a helping hand to satisfy your huge
demand in hardware, so please bear with me another month Smile

regarding the color wheels:
after the initial shipment of about 15 imagers i improved the wheel
quality a LOT so i felt it was fair to provide the new wheels to the 15
people for free. Since shipping Robert's imager took some time he
already has the new wheels (lucky you Wink)
I most recently discovered a small wheel-fix (adding black ink to the
index strip) to eleminate the de-sync that appeared with Crazy Coaster
sometimes. This fix might be the reason why the Maccallan Imager works
better with the LOTR demo than the original one. All new imagers will
come with the newest wheels with all fixes applied of course (as the
last 5 did) the other Maccallan Imager owners will recieve a seperate
email if they want to tune their wheel to the latest version (i's just
taking out a pencil and draw a small area black;-).

The next 30 Maccallan Imager orders before September 26th will be
shipped on October 1st! With every day after October 1st you get 5%
off!

finally there is no reason not wanting to possess a maccallan imager
Wink

thanks for supporting me RGV !!

No you didn't ;-0 You asked me to send
you my 3D game roms REMEMBER?!!
John, with all due respect, you've been
putting me off since March.

Look, I think it's fantastic that you've made
a new imager for Vectrex. If it's better than
the original Imager, I'll be the first to admit it.

John, what about the StarSling TE carts that you sent me which
were burned with the wrong game?

Yes, I'm still waiting about the fix you were to tell me/send me.
