....and real time and logged activity monitoring
To follow on this comment combined with Mr. Ed's tongue in cheek, the
Real World is closer to Mr. Ed's....
Depending on the company and their regulatory environment that they are
in, unless you are part of the IT department and know exactly what is
going on, your activities may be monitored. Depending on how closely
the logs are examined, you may be putting your employment at risk.
Did you sign a company policy manual which included an "appropriate use"
clause or paragraph, or page? Do you like your job? or more
imporatntly, do you need your job? If so, make sure that you are not
being watched. Look up Bluecoat or St. Bernard's Software to see a
couple of the things that are happening now. They are not too expensive
for even a small company to install and use.
Here's another story. At a company that I did some consulting in the
late 90's, the IT Director used to do "drive by shootings". He would
walk his rank and file of cubilcles, and if he saw a game up on a
screen, he would quietly ask the employee if they were having fun or "if
they were winning". The response didn't matter, they were fired on the
spot. It took about a month before even the "smartest" got the message.
I like Empire as much as the next guy, maybe even more, but just make
sure you are not screwing up something that you need or want to keep
(like your job, [marriage is a personal preference]).
Like the old ads on TV, "this is your job....this is your job on Empire"
