I'm sure it affects some Dragons but none that I recall posting here
recently. Ashi is a good ways north of the southern desert area of
California. The latest news is that the Santa Ana winds which had been
driving the fire have died away and people are returning to the area.
Maybe people in that part of California will start to consider xeriscaping
their properties like they do in Las Vegas now. Nah, people don't learn.
There are fires like this in the western US every year, this one just
happened to be particularly bad. I think the only area of the country
without danger from various weather disasters in N. Dakota, but who wants
to talk like that?

I for one prefer Norwegian to the way they talk in N. Dakota.

I like the way the women in Norwegia kiss better than the ones in
North Dakota.

Well..., people who live in those areas tend to be rich people, and they
prefer living in woods.... If you cut down those trees, it'll just defeat
the purpose of hiding in the mountain.
Oakland mountain area has fire almost like every summer, and each of those
house worths millions of dollar. Some feel wary of it, but doesn't mean
new residents won't move in... (if the price is right...). Will Wright's
house was burned down once (he lived in Walnut Creek I think, because
that's where Maxis was before it moved in with EA).
And there are always amazing animal rescue stories from forest fire....
Some people's cat was miraculously saved by volunteers though her paws were
badly burned from trying to escape.

I'm pretty sure in N. Dakota you are subject to the risk of extreme
winter weather, ice storms, blizzards and the like that can be quite
deadly. Going somewhere warm has its problems also, heat waves while
less dramatic can still cause lots of problems and kill people.
Your best bet is somewhere with a mild climate, but that will be
caused by ocean currents and so brings the risk of ocean storms.
Basically you makes your choices and you takes your chances.

Well, when I think of a disaster I think of something that is rare,
happens quickly and causes destruction of the house. Sweeping forest
fires, flash floods, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.
Heat waves, cold fronts, things like that you can prepare for and survive
with relative ease.

San Jose is far north. LA area a good five-hour drive from where my
brother lived (before he moved to DC). Dalboz lives in southern California
though.
There are lots of disasters in S. California.... There was one year where
they had landslides because it rained too much and some freeway was closed.
I still remember it because I was driving to see my brother and I couldn't
use one of the highways (though luckily I didn't have to use that one).
Oakland has forest fire almost like every summer though. I think the
closest dragon near Oakland is Golden Flame, who lived in Berkeley the last
time I heard.
But thanks a lot for the concern.

Bad weather in N. Dakota's probably equal bad harvest, which affects
people's livelihood. Otherwise, why wouldn't more people move there.

That's why San Jose's housing price doesn't really go down... though we
might see it happen in coming few months, but long term speaking, it
probably wouldn't budge much, since we have relatively good weather here
(it's Mediterranean style weather here), and people got very used to live
here where sun always shines (though nowadays it's affected by global
warming too, so sometimes weather can get erratic).

People like warm weather. They aren't bunker dwelling computer geeks.

Didn't you say that has something to do with the mucous that coats

Yeah, scales aren't the only place with bacteria laden mucus.
Hmmm...that reminds me of a movie whose status I haven't checked on in a

Speaking of fires in North Dakota (segue) did I ever mention that my
dad and his brother accidentally burned down the Capitol Building in
North Dakota where they were born?
