LOL! When you put it like that...
I have never dueled, but I have a char I tried to build as a sort of "PK
killer" or somesuch. Basically she's an assassin with traps and maxed
dragon talon, and wears as much CB as she can. Since she only uses stuff
I found myself she doesn't have all the uber gear such as enigma and so
on, but now that she's offladder, she's at 73% crushing blow, which kills
Baal nice and quick.
Lately the only playing i've been doing was refreshing my chars and not
much else, maybe consensual dueling could be something to get my interest
back up, but from what little I know (or thought I knew) I've always
thought that to duel you needed the most uber gear in existence so that's
probably why I haven't bothered trying yet. However, dueling someone from
this group could be something interesting, I've read your posts and know
that I probably can't expect to win, but it could be fun.
I'm on USWest, mostly offladder, on accounts Kos2314 through Kos2319, but
Kos2314 has two ladder chars on it. I've mostly soloed so far, but still
have a couple of chars it the high 70's and mid 80's some that could be
interesting to duel (at least to my limited understanding) such as a pure
boner (lvl 70 or 71, offladder), a pure lightning sorc (79 or 80,
offladder), but as I said I've never dueled except for once with a
friend, pitting my level 7X trapper against his level 80 zealot and
winning. (I ended up laying traps [Light and Death Sentries] and running
like hell and he ended up dying). So if you feel like teaching a dueling
newb a lesson in dueling, I'd be up to it.
Whew! That was long winded! Guess that's why I almost never post: When I
do I can't keep my mouth shut!
*-) K.os, oh, and about that whole mickey/vd/polarhound: Why don't you
guys KF one another and ignore each other from now on? The group would
only be thankful I think.

CB is very useful as a general monster killer, unfortunately, it's much less
effective in duels. THE key skill for an assassin PKer(or PK killer) is mind
blast, it can cause massive problems for many builds.

You can duel with less than perfect gear, though having high end stuff does
substantially help. Still, if someone totally sucks, even perfect gear won't
save them. Case in point, this dude was bragging about how godly his barb
was, using Tyreal's Might, perfect stats Last Wish phase blades, perfect
stats Crown of Ages, etc...well, I got on Jaime's trapper, dueled
him...found out that despite that gear, he's the walking definition of
"easy". Seriously, I stood there LETTING him frenzy me, even got life
tapped, and despite that, I fireblasted him to death. I tanked his hits, and
killed him with 5k fireblast even while tapped, didn't even use her 11k
light sentry on him...

Cool, works for me, I'll keep an eye out!

I'm mostly offladder as well, the only ladder dueling I do, I do with
Jaime's character.

Boner's can be a hard duel for many chars. Unresistable, unblockable attack
is dangerous, and if using minions, it becomes even more difficult.

Trappers can be a hard duel for many of my characters. The pretty much beat
my hammerdin always(even the ones I beat I usually only beat through luck),
and are exceedingly tough for my wind druid to beat as well(and he IS very
expensively geared). They'll also usually beat my necro, fare well against
my sorcs, and my shifter druid just gets totally decimated by them.

Cool, I'll keep my eyes open for ya. My accounts are D_Shiflet, D_Shiflet3,
and D_Shiflet4, and if I'm not in game, I can usually be found in channel
Diablo II-USA-USWest 1. Look for character names DS_Northwind or
Miss_FORTUNE as those are the 2 characters I'm most likely to be on.

Yeah, 105 is breakpoint, I believe, and what most PvP sins aim for.

It's be amusing to pull off, but hard to rely on.

Yeah, Jaime's sin is pure traps, full synergized and loaded with +skills
stuff.

The big problem with kickers in PvP in that often their opponents have
ridiculous defense(my smiter for example has 20k def with no Exile, and if
his Fort's chilling armor triggers, it shoots up another 6k or so), damage
reduction, and block, substantially reducing their damage(and keep in mind,
your damage is reduced to 1/6 it's normal damage in duels to start with) and
chance to hit. I've seen kickers kill caster types, but against paladins and
such it's much, much harder.

One of my friends has a bow sin, not sure where it stands currently
though...

Without a minion stack to soak up damage, boners are kinda vulnerable. Their
hits hurt, but if the opponent can get in range to hit they often fall.

I've wanted to make a fire druid, but haven't for just that reason.

Well, best strategy is to setup a nasty trapfield near where you think the
opponent is gonna be, then try to keep them constantly mind blasted while
the traps do their work.

All my assassins have mind blast, but I don't use it very often. I
imagine that for it to be efficient in PVP, you probably need a LOT of
faster cast rate, though.
Of course, dueling will require different strategies than PVM, the way I
currently play her is to throw five death sentries and then jumping in
the fray with kicks to get a corpse. When facing dangerous groups, I add
Cloak of Shadows before throwing the traps, but that's basically all
there is to it... I've heard of killing monsters and leaving their
corpses to explode them on dueling opponents, but I've never actually
tried it.

Please tell me that's a pure trapper! My hybrid is lvl 86 and does only
1.7K Fireblast and 3.2K Light sentry and that's in her trapping gear!
When she's on her kicking switch gear, she only does 1.2K and 2.5K. Her
kick is 720-1175 with 73% crushing blow, 43% open wounds, 80-240 magic
damage and 52-178 cold damage. For PVM, she is a sight to behold, but I
don't know how good she would do in PVP. I actually have a bunch of
assassins at various stages in their career, from a 1.08 unsynergized MA
assassin to the aforementioned Kick/Trapper, with a couple of trappers,
kickers and general weirdness (I have a char that I wanted to try maxing
Cloak of Shadows on, but didn't get very far with her, could be
interesting to level her some and see what I can do with that.)

All right! I don't play often, but when I do I mostly play either
KalisSurprise (the hybrid assassin at lvl 86) or BzzztZap (Pure lightning
sorc, lvl79) or ItsyBitsySpider (Ladder, Assassin only lvl 10-12 or
something, started her on the new ladder but didn't play her much yet)

Cool.
[Boner]

Bonerorama is level 70 and has level 32 Bone Spear and Bone Spirit. His
only summonable is a fire golem from items, something like level 5 so, at
least in PVM, it's insta-poof when I summon him.
Speaking of "interesting" chars, I also have a level 69 Fire Druid with
armageddon and so on, he's a lot of fun but hard to play solo in hell
because of all the immunes.

But don't forget that you're talking about someone who knows how to duel
using a trapper. I probably wouldn't be very dangerous even if I get
DireDiscord my level 84 pure trapper. Like the guys with the small dicks

And even if the only PROVEN liar here is him? Never has provided an
iota of evidence I have lied, cheated or duped, I am one of THE most
trusted traders on JSP (should I post a link to that also), but this
low-life spawn of a cheap whore and her drug addicted pimp calls ME

Did David ctually post here? If he did, it was without my knowledge.
David also only played my chars while I was ill to keep the Baal runs
going, he's as busy as a one-armed paper hanger, law school is 18

Oh come on. You've got the:
Trader: Not Rated
status at d2jsp. Get a 'Trusted' tag and then you'd have something to brag
about, perhaps.

You didn't really expect him to tell the truth, did you?
Why don't you ask him about his 180mph Ferrari, er... Fiero?? He loves
talking about that. >> Stay informed about: Finding items is nice, but this.... |

I don't know about the fogetful part, but the getting old part sucks
in three part harmony and glorious TechnicolorŽ. I really feel worse
for SHMBO, as I will admit to being a truly TERRIBLE patient, and she
is a saint putting up with me. Then again, having good friends makes
is easier

Did David ctually post here? If he did, it was without my knowledge.
David also only played my chars while I was ill to keep the Baal runs
going, he's as busy as a one-armed paper hanger, law school is 18
hours days back to back.
Mickey
I don't remember for sure, but if he did, it was when you were sick.
But, then again it might just be my mind playing games with me because
I do remember playing the game with David and poor dumb me
was also thinking that he might have posted here too.
It sucks getting old and forgetful

Because I do not WANT the tag, it has been offered but it comes with
responsibilities I do not feel I can commit to at the moment, given my
health. My ego is not such that I would accept the tag, just to be
able to brag about it, when I could not also commit to the duties
therein. Would you?
However....

I think that says enough, no? Or maybe you need a bush to combust
spontaneously and a deep booming voice?

I could give it a try when my health is up for it, although mine is
set up for strick MF (well over 700%). Right now, the problem is that
my hands just aren't behaving very well, arthritis combined with MS is
conspiring to make life somewhat miserable these days. As Wiz can tell
you, I haven't been on very much of late, which for me is usually a
classic sign that things are not going well.
