Fighter Auto Intercept Problem Host195 !!!!

Has anyone using host 195 had a succesful fighter auto intercept?


So far it is reported that the Scavs, Rebels, and Com fighters do not
auto intercept Privateer MCBR's.

The question remains is this a specific problem with the MCBR or
does it effect all races fighters and all targets?

So can anyone confirm that they also have this problem?

Or can anyone confirm that their fighters are working for auto
intercepts?

Yes, my Bird fighter wings did auto-intercept. They even left the Darkwing
they were docked to...
(my Rebel fighter wings never did that)

But it was not a MCBR they were intercepting.

Yes I had problems intercepting with rebels wings. And I had problems
with other races also, and with older hosts. I frecuently failed when
mixing waypoint and intercerpt. Sometimes they work (I suppose) as if
they lose their target and go to the waypoint, later they recover their
target and lose it again and go, once more, to their waypoint and,,,,,
many times. At the end, they finish the movement fase nor with the
enemy object neither the waypoint assigned. In the middle of nothing.

That's happened to me many times.

For the purpose of this problem we are looking at weather or not
a fighter moves at all to auto intercept a target.

This can be checked by checking the log of the fighter that has
auto intercept turned on. Make sure that the speed is set to a
high enough value to make the intercept also.

Such as:
Helm: Enemy contact detected in intercept range
Helm: Intercepting object ID# 4726
Helm: Range to intercept target: 47

In this case the auto intercept funtion worked and this
wing did target object 4726.
The speed is set at 60 and the wing has full fuel.
The wing is a free wing in orbit.
The wing in question never moved out of orbit.
For some reason the auto function never enabled the wing to
move. The target object is a Meteor.

This is different from a wing moving toward a target then loosing it.
That gives the indication that auto intercept is working and you
just lost a good scan of the target for a while during the turn which
interupted
the intercept.

I also have a second wing over a different planet that targeted the
same
object but also failed to move. Again it is in range and speed is set.

This might be a problem only for fast hyp ships or only Meteor's.

Speed 60 interceptors r not really I would think fast enough to try to
intercept a meteor with.!!

At minimum u want speed 100 ly speed..200 is reliable.

I appreciate the thought process.
However in my case I also had ships in orbit over both planets
with the exact same auto intercept orders as the free wings have.

I.E. speed set to 60 range of the auto intercept set to 60.
For the wings and the ships.
The ships did move and did intercept the free wings did not move.

I have further evidence which will not be used here because this is an
active game. The metoer in question did fast hyp to a location 47
lys away from the planet and did in fact not move after fast hyp.
So my ships and fighters had all 200 movement segments to react
to the presence of the meteor. The fact that the ships did intercept
also verifies that a sensor contact was maintained throught the entire
turn.

Not to feed the flame, but something I've always wondered about: Is it
possible for one ship to lose sensor contact, while another (of the
same player) maintains it? Meaning, if one device scans an object, is
that now global knowledge among all my empire? I've always thought
that was the case, but it'd be good to confirm.

And what kind of scanning power does a wing have?

I do not know for sure.
But after playing for 4+ years it appears that
sensor info is global. As long as any scan under
your control/ally info, can maintain contact then all of your
ships/fighters can react to the contact.

This is how cloaked ships can intercept targets
without dropping cloak while
a different ship does the scanning for them.

Wings have a 10 ly scan range.
Turn it on and zoom in you will see a small scan ring around
your fighter.
