You can't get past all doors that way. Any door inside an instance
will cause a problem due to your going back to the start of the
instance when you die.

For this reason it's pointless dieing to get through the back door of
Strat as there's another door once you get in the instance.

What worries me about this is over-zealous warlocks who hastily make
the decision to do this when a wipe is not yet a certainty, thereby
actually causing the wipe they were trying to avoid. I've seen some
pretty spectacular comebacks.

Other option, if you have nobody that can fear : start a duel, when you are
low on health, go to the top of the roof, jump, and die. Go back to your
body, and come back to life between the instance entrance and the locked
door.

Hellfire has another wonderful application -- you don't take durability
loss from dying via hellfire. If you're about to wipe in a raid, kill
yourself with hellfire to save a repair bill.

Best use of Hellfire I have seen is at the end of a SM run where you
have a swarm of humans enter the room. Hellfire at the door and they
dont even make it in.

Yes, but (it's been probably a year since I played my hunter) from
what I can remember, it only works if you hit Bestial Wrath before
being feared? I thought once under fear effect you can't do much
except trinket/wotf.

At the risk of outing myself as the total b00n (considering my main is a
level 70 BM hunter), but how do you "unfear yourself" while feared?
