Favorite superhero characters from the comics?

My favourite character is probably Rick Jones, the guy Bruce Banner
saved from the gamma bomb test that transformed him into the Hulk.
He's gone on to be the sidekick of Captain America, and share
molecules with two Captain Marvels. A minor hobby of mine is to try
and collect in some form all his appearances.

I also like Spider-Man and read a fair number of other Marvel comics
(mostly black and white phone book collections) including the Hulk,
Captain America, Captain Marvel (mostly the more recent series),
Avengers, Fantastic Four, Luke Cage and Iron Fist (I like Iron Fist
for the cheesy 70s Kung Fu). In the DC verse I don't own many comics,
but on TV I liked the recent Batman, Superman and Justice League
Series (and Teen Titans). My biggest DC collection is of Elongated Man
(I bought a black and white phone book of his appearances), also like
the Formerly Known as/Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League stuff.

Basically I like most super heroes okay and focus on the more oddball
or joke characters.

I read a few manga (Japanese) titles, Shaman King and Hikaru no Go.

My favourite was something called "Metallklanen" in Norwegian "Metal clan"
translated to english, although I don't know if that was the name of it. I
also liked Fantastic Four.

As for superman I eventually got a bit tired of the whole secret identity
thing because;

1. Clark knows Superman well.
2. Whenever Clark is around, superman is not around (except fon some very
rare occasions)
3. Whenever Superman is around, clark is noqwhere to be seen (except fon
some very rare occasions).
4. Clark looks almost identical to Superman, except for the glasses.

Still no one realizes that Clark IS Superman. I may have been an adult
when I realized this.

In addition, I liked Lassie. Can't stand watching it now, however -
terrible music.

Hmmm. Could Lassie star in a horror movie? "Lassie 9, the haunting".

I remember a comic with "metal men". I think it might have been called
that even. It had some scientist/father figure who discovered how to make
sentient robots each out of a different kind of metal. So there was a
Lead guy, a Mercury one, etc.

Yeah, I thought that too but my real problem with Superman is that he's
basically too powerful. Never felt like he was challenged by much.

"Fon" Now that was an interesting misspelling. Obviously I started writing
"for", and then during writing immediately changed my intention to "on".
Could mean something. Don't know what.

Ah, another theme for a horror movie: "Spells", with Dan Qualye as
technical consultant.

If I remember correct that cover had a train with those metalmen all
around it. Leader of the group was the gold guy and silver was female?

Sounds about right, but I only ever had one issue of that comic and don't
remember it too well. Actually I don't remember any comic issue well, but
with others where I had multiple issues, I was able to learn the canon for
the superheros involved a bit more.

bit low. Did they count each of the 1+ million wikipedia pages? What

According to the multiple choice quiz I just took on-line the number
of webpages is exactly "unknown".

In terms of metal super heroes and villains, there are a fair number
like that X-man (Colossus?), Ferous Lad (Boy?) of the Legion of
Superheroes and so on.
