He was pointing out that using two Radeon cards is called Crossfire and SLI
only refers to Nvdia cards. Time to dumps those X1950's and move up to 4870.

Turn off vsync. Mouse lag is caused by vsync in FO3. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

Yes, it is multi-core aware so quad should be better than dual core but dual
core is all you really need. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

I played Far Cry for the first time last summer after upgrading my
then 5 year old computer.
Now with a kid in daycare it looks like I won't be upgrading again for
another 5 years. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

Thanks for the tip.
Intel Q9300@2500
ASUS 8800GTS 512MB
4GB (3GB Vista x32)
2x500GB raid striping
1680x1050. 16:10 Syncmaster 2232bw
I have set soething between High and Ultra. AA4x, AN8x, all the slides
between 80%-100%. All the features are activated, vsync activated.
FPS are constant to 60, sometimes (one time in 10-15 minutes?) it falls
around 40 but seems related to loadings or texture loadings.
I suppose I can rise settings a bit more.
Is It better to rise AA or AN?
I am also going to rise slides a bit.
Thank again for pointing that "Fraps" >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

I bought the Sammy 226BW 22" a year or so ago and absolutely love it.
It replaced a 21" Dell CRT and I haven't ever looked back. Two minds
now whether to get another one or buy a larger version... I'll
definitely be looking at Sammys again before other makes tho' >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

IMHO
I suppose there is also a quality gap between 2ms and 5ms screens.
Usually specifications are quite similar but samsung's 2ms looks better.
I suppose the display is manufacted in different places.
For example I have seen samsung 24* (5ms) series monitor near my 2232bw
5 months ago and I have the perception 24'' are far worse than 22''.
My suggestion is:
Let's buy a monitor in a place where you can look and compare with the
other for real.specifications have nothing to spare with perceptions >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

I bought this one online and trusted to the suppliers forums and user
reviews. The user reviews were bang-on. Unfortunately there isn't a
brick-store that carries a decent range of monitors that I know of
within 100 miles of here... >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

Well on my modest system I am playing just fine, of course my 1440x900
resolution isn't the greatest.
On my 2.1ghz, 2gb's ram, 7600GT i get no VATS issues.
I have LOD's, objects fades, all the "important" stuff IMO set to max.
Grass, Trees LOD set to minimum.
I got water reflections and all that turned off. haven't gotten to the
water parts of the game yet, but water has never been a game maker/
breaker for me.
I got HDR on and radial blur quality on medium. Transparency on max
and the slider below it on 10.
Shadows max for indoors at 6 and outdoors at 4. Again, as long as
things look decent i don't need the perfect realistic looking
environment.
Textures maxed out.
Pretty much everything is close to max, except trees and grass and
water. And i've got playable framerates and no issues at all. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

Pretty much the same as my rig, 'cept I have an x1650 (512meg) in the
graphics slot. The games runs great!
I've had the rig for about 3 years now, and it can still just about run the
new stuff - Blacksite:Area 51 had some issues, mind. I think when I go
multi-core, I'll likely be sticking with the AMD/ATI combination. It just
seems to work for me

It's thead necromancy, but...
Installed FO3 last week. Have Nvidia 8600 GTS(?).
It chose high settings for me. Everything looked and
played great, except for one thing - VATS. It slowed
to a crawl in VATS. I thought maybe this was a
feature at first, giving you a long time to see the nice
outline around the enemy before you could click on
anything. Then I saw a video on youtube with near
instant selection of body parts.
Dropped the anti-aliasing to 0 before I could get
decent performance there. Also figured I should
drop anisotropic filtering as well, as I'm not sure
if that does anything if AA is off. Lowering this
also makes my mouse a little more responsive
in dialogues.
Rumor is a patch is coming and that this is a known
problem. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

I'm not running at full anything, but it still looks pretty good, but even
on my rig I'm not seeing any lag in VATS. I wonder if its just an Nvidia
thing?
