How is that 22" lcd? I have a 19" 1440x900 by Samsung and thinking
about upgrading. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

My specs:
Athlon XP 64 3600+
2GB RAM
Nvidia 8600 GT
WinXP
Fallout3 optimistically recommended High settings with high
antialiasing and texture filtering settings. Honestly my machine
chugged a bit, even in the vault. I lowered things down a bit, but
I'm still not totally happy with the framerate and mouselook
responsiveness. I only spent 20 or 30 minutes outside before it got
dark, I'll do more tweaking. Too bad you have to leave the game to
tweak a lot of the settings. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

Oh, and I'm running at 1650x1080 on a Viewsonic 22" LCD. I like the
resolution and usually don't run AA, so I'll probably turn it off on
FO3 to see if that helps. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

How do you like that Viewsonic?
I never understood wanting to use AA. I mean, I know it smoothens out
the jaggies, but having played all my games never having the latest
and greatest graphics card, and on resolutions no bigger than 1024x768
in days gone by, when finally being able to turn on AA, i never
thought it was that big of a deal. And not just saying that to justify
my lack or inability to use it or being a poor gamer. Just used to
playing without it for so long, that now playing at 1440x900 having no
AA is not that big of a deal and I can happily live without it. Of
course I'd play with it if I had a better card but just saying I
played with it on and it's not like WoW! >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

I love the Viewsonic. I like widescreen, and LCD is smaller and
easier on my eyes than CRTs.
Yeah I'm all for graphics but AA sucks up valuable rendering capacity
and frames per second. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

I just turned off the antisctropic filtering or whatever and left AA
on, as someone suggested that as a possible fix for the VATS slowdown
bug (no none of the other fixes I've tried have worked in all
situations so far, other than turning the textures from high to medium
which I figured out on my own, but I don't like the medium textures).
It helps, but the game looks horribly worse.

Very nice rig. Must have set up back a few pence. You should get Visa 64
though (Seeing as you already have the 32 bit version MS should post you a
DVD with it on for about £10 IIRC) A 32 Bit OS can't address all of your
RAM. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

It wasn't too bad, money-wise. I built it myself, sorta piece-by-piece
(IE, I didn't go to the RAID5 setup until this summer...) and managed to
leverage piles of stuff (power supply, case, DVD burners, etc...) from
the previous incarnation of the system. Because of this, it's tough to
come to a total cost, but it was probably a third of the $$$ of high-end
Apple systems and it blows away comparable PC brand systems.

I sold a pair of them for £160 on eBay 6 months ago! Nice cards although I
hated the way Crossfire worked. No way near as much control as Nvidia's setup. >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

My changes are continual and gradual, but when you do revisit a demanding
game, it's cool to see your upgraded PC eat the game and provide the
experience the devs intended. ) >> Stay informed about: Fallout 3 Poll: What's your PC specs? |

First, I play Morrowind & Oblivion, by Beth.
Fallout 3 runs on the same Game Engine as Oblivion, and I have no
trouble with either starting Medium settings then customizing them
(example, turning Shadows down).
WinXP Pro SP3
P4 3GHz Hyper Threading
2gb RAM
nVida GeForce 7300GT 512 (very latest drivers)
760gb total hard drive capacity
(only 80gb with OS/Apps, reminder games)
Recommend consulting TweakGuides site (bookmark their home page)
http://www.tweakguides.com/
They even have tweaks for specific games, in addition to there 2
general Tweak Guides.
