I sometimes think Games Workshop should sue themselves for diluting their
own product line...

It's supposed to cover a LOT of stuff, replace the yearly update, and
use data sheets to convey the rules, so it should cover most every FW
model available and not have much fluff. Both of which are certainly
bonuses.

I'll check out the copy our resident Forge World nutter is getting
before grabbing a copy myself.

thankfully, Gav doesn't write for forge world, it's Warwick Kinrade and Tony
Cottrell (remember him from WD?) - both of whom are solid enough writers,
even if they don't do much proofreading Razz

I know Gav wrote some of the fluff for at least one of the IA
books. I did a review of it ages ago, and yeah, par for Gav it was
grammatically correct, and utterly forgettable.

So after a couple of weeks of waiting, got my copy in the mail today,
opened it all hot and anxious.....

Hmmm.....well...

Lots of nice pictures. Apocalypse versions of the Tyranid Gargantuan
creatures like the Trygon, Harridan, and Malanthrope. Datasheets for
almost any kind of IG tank you could possibly buy from FW. TONS of
skimmers and flyers for the Eldar (nice) and something very, VERY
nasty for Necron players (Undying Legion).

But...

Battle formations seem to have been shafted in this book, Undying
Legion aside. The Pylon Network is exactly similar to the Monolith
Phalanx, The SM Droppod Assault merely confers only a single
Strategic Asset, And the Tyranid Spore Chimney Infestation....its
special rule, its single special rule is that the chimneys and towers
are placed along with terrian in the 'Nid's deployment zone! By
Typhus' crawling balls, at least tell me what the damn things do
without me having to shell out another $80US for IA4 as well!! All
in all, this should have been released as a collection of PDF's on the
FW site rather than an overpriced catalog of FW stuff that I can't
afford and don't really need more than a couple of anyway.

At least the new release of Blade Runner I bought today rocks ass, so
the day isn't a total loss.

It does. I get what they were trying to do with it, I just wish they
had done it in a way that wasn't so jarringly contrasting with the
rest of the movie. Ah well...
