OK so I got fsx standard of ebay with my 3.0 celeron, xp, 512mb ram, 200g
hdd and sapphire 128mb with 3d.
I was told I'd have problems by everyone. I have scenery display settings
all on normal with 20% road traffic,
25% general aviation, 25% commercial aviation, 35% airport traffic. It gives
me steady flowing traffic on the hiway,
enough push-back carts that I can always get a tow at an intl. airport,
baggage cart & conveyor,
a fueltruck, ships, enough ai planes although not quite heathrow on a busy
day but atleast it don't take me an hour to get
departure clearance, semi-decent ground textures (better than fs9).
I keep my target framerate of 20 which gives me an average of 10 using
jeppesen weather, and slowing down to 5 for most airports, however it doesnt
jump till I get down to 3.
Problems I get is in fshostclient which is what I need to use for multi,
when people type, it stalls my game.
Most aircraft are transferable from fs9 although you have to alter config
files so you actually have a valid panel,
and you can't have two aircraft with the same title or none of that aircraft
will show up. Most guages are not transferable so you might
have to delete existing panels and transfer ones that do work in fsx into
your aircraft panel. Most of the mainstream boeing panels will
work if you have that panel in a rowking aircraft but I recommend placing
that panel in the aircraft which you intend to fly.
There is one fast-jet panel so far that I have found to work. That is the
harrier panel from simviation. Helo's I have to mainly
use the default bell panel in the hueys. These are small problems and I'm
overall pleased with my purchase. Mountains now look like peaked mountains,
trees look like the regional flora. A lot of the harder airports which fs9
had that are nothing like the real place are more realistic.
Ice runways in Antartica still have a runway and not water in summer.
