On the Microsoft Games site it says Holiday 2006. Doesn't that mean December
around christmas?

Probably means anytime after Columbus Day, with Thanksgiving between that
and Christmas. It makes one think, though, that maybe non-US releases being
earlier is a way of testing without pissing off the US consumers by any bugs
found. Then, when we foreigners have reported the bugs they'll be fixed in
time for the US release. Is that paranoid?

What is Columbus day? We don't celebrate it in the UK

It's celebrated in the US and some other places (e.g. The Bahamas). I
presume it commemorates the landfall of Columbus. It coincides with Canadian
Thanksgiving. That's all I know I'm afraid.

The aviation hobbyshop here at EHAM is starting sales next weekend with an
introductionprice of EUR 69.95. They're calling it the "Deluxe Edition".
With it comes a cap, a poster and a book called "Say Again".

I still have to think about it.

I was in my local Best Buy today, looking for GTR2, and saw several copies
of both the std and deluxe versions of FSX on the shelf.

I started to pick it up, but frankly, my time is very limited right now, and
I just don't think I would have the time to really delve into it for several
weeks. Maybe by that time, the kinks will have been worked out, etc...

Hello Marcel, I think that Dallas said everything already. SP2 made
no trouble here. Vista will be ignored and maybe on a faster puter I
can run FS9 smoothly even under penguin's win emulation in future.
That might be real fun... Wink

Hi Marcel,
if you are living next door to them, it might be ok but if I have to
add all the additional costs for shipping etc. my normal source for
the English version appears to be cheaper (GBP 49.99 or EUR 74.99
including everything):

http://play.com/Games/PC/CART/3-/1124935/-/Product.html?cur=258

Nevertheless, I think I will wait for a while. I would have to
enhance my HW first and my FS9 works really fine.

Hi Axel!
Long time no see. How's life?

Fortunately my hardware is up to par (and then some), it's the software I'm
running that worries me. I always refused to install SP2 because of the
problems it gave some simmers in the beginning, and it seems FSX will only
run on XP SP2 or Vista. And since I don't see myself getting Vista any time
soon I'm stuck with the obvious necessity of upgrading to SP2 after all.

Any thoughts on that?

Yeah, me too... I finally installed it 2 months ago and it was no big
deal. It just adds a few useless things you need to shut off and a few new
confirmations pop up now and then that are pesky. I guess that's what MS
thinks passes for increased security.

Very Happy
